Time to play catch up (due to my marathon on Breaking Bad Season 3 to 'Felina' over the past two weeks).

Excel Saga eps 1-8

This is brilliant. Just brilliant. I totally imagine it rubbing people up the wrong way too though, and I can't decide if the English dub is genius or just over the fine line of bonkers. But I'm laughing my head off at every episode, and as an episode by episode dissection of various genre tropes, it's fantastically clever. It absolutely plays the same jokes for laughs again and again, which somehow still manages to work, and both Excel and Hyatt themselves are perfect props to hang the rest of the show off. Also, for a show that in many ways plays so much to fanservice, it manages to avoid 'that' kind of fanservice way more than today's shows probably would do.
