Your viewing journal

Fair enough. There are a lot of "classic" novels and cars which are shite, and I use the term in much the same way - Older, but still remembered and held in high regard by many (even if unjustified).

So even the AL edition has naff video? Damn. Maybe I'll leave it then.

Someone here (Conan?) mentioned that it had hardsubs so I'm guessing Beez used the Bandai Entertainment masters, which were bad even by 2000 standards.

This is why I would have double-dipped had Beez got hold of the remaster:

1
2

Can you guess which is which?

Macros Plus : episode 1 and 2

I haven't watched this for about 6 or 7 years and had almost forgotten about it until I saw a copy in cex last week. I had forgotten how good it, they don’t seem to make shows like this any more. I wish they would make more proper scifi anime again.

The animation holds up quite well, I know some people dislike the older art style used here but I prefer it to modern stuff sometimes.

The music is excellent.

Its really nice to see a love triangle between 3 adults instead of teens. The relationship between the characters feels a lot more mature than I am am used to seeing in anime.

Kaiji S2 episode 21 - Just when you think it's going to end, another thing happens in this arc, i'm starting to get a bit less tense as these episodes go on, it's a small nitpick but I wonder if the next episode finally ends it.

Same. I quite enjoyed the first season even though it had the same pacing problems. It just felt like they covered it up a bit better or maybe had better cliffhangers. There were times in the Chinchirorin arc where I wished they just got on with it, although it is satisfying when it does.

High School of the Dead episode 1

My BD arrived so I had a quick look at the first episode. ZOMG. I don't remember being that impressed when I watched it via more dubious methods back when it was airing. The direction and animation is top-notch. Of course, most studios blow half their budget on and assign their most talented staff to first episodes, so I don't know if Madhouse were able to maintain this quality through the series. I certainly hope they didn't cut down on the astonishing number of frames used to animate the jiggle...

Macros Plus 3 and 4

Really enjoyed watching this, now making me want to watch other macros, but dont know what is a good jumping on point.

They fit an unstable millitary AI program to a dodgy virtual pop star, with a program based on the mind of a emotionally screwed up women, and say that its perfectly safe and nothing could possibly go wrong.

Who could have guessed that would be a bad idea? :D

You can't go far wrong with "Do You Remember Love?". Personally, I think the character designs haven't aged well, but other than that, it's a fantastic film.

Tiger & Bunny ep 20 - They've gone about it in a less "obvious" way than I expected, but this is actually an instance where I think the "obvious" way (make Bunny think that Tiger killed his parents) would have worked better. Still entertaining.

Brave Police J-Decker-Episodes 21-30,more than half way through and i can now say this is now in my personal all time fave list, loved the parody of Cutie Honey and Gatchaman, very funny indeed, excellent stuff.

Tiger & Bunny 22
I predicted that Kaede would return everyone's memories to normal; just a shame Bunny arrived a few seconds too late. I love how the first hero Tiger approached was Dragon Kid. I <3 Dragon Kid
