Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) ep 1

Finally got the motivation together to start a new series instead of just plodding along with One Piece and the like; and what a show! Only one episode down, so I can't be too sure, but what a first episode! The character designs are fantastic, Sebastian's VA is notably great, a wonderful OP and ED and so much more! The show is doing well at striking the delicate balance between the 'spooky' horror sides of it, and the comic relief. So far I can see this being a really enjoyable show to watch; and only a cast of 5 main characters (6 including the old man with the tea all the time) making it pretty easy to get used to the characters ^.^

I'm not so keen on the boy yet; but Sebastian is just fabulous. His manner, appearance, voice; I can see myself liking him most in the show so far.

Has anyone else here seen the show?

And yes, you read it correctly; I said bishounen character designs were good!

Edit: Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) - ep 2

More of the same; and it's all good ^.^

(re-watch)Orphen season 1-episodes 23-26,a oldie but a goodie,it was one of the first series i watched years ago, still got the vhs tapes lol and i,m glad Sentai rescued it and released the 2 seasons in one boxset,it aint gonna change the world but Orphen is a solid show that while it does nothing truly great it does not do anything bad either, solid, fun rpg based, fantasy anime that will more that please fans of the genere.

I haven't quite brought myself around to watching the show yet, but clearly Ciel is a better character design than Sebastian. :p

I resisted for ages too as I don't really like butlers in general, but Sebastian is fantastic and I love the twisted relationship between the two main characters. I also love the way the series doesn't take itself terrifically seriously, even though there are some risky situations in it. And Victorian era settings are always a treat.

I think I marathoned my way through the DVDs within a few days of receiving them each time.

The anime diverges quite a bit from the manga towards the end, so if you are enjoying it I'd recommend grabbing that too (the US Yen Press release is already caught up to the non-anime new material).

My other half expected to hate the series since it's so overexposed everywhere and such obvious fangirl-bait, but he ended up reading every volume delightedly too.

The general love for Black Butler is a mystery to me - they showed the first season at one of the local anime clubs last year and I just found it very average. There were a few nice ideas, sure, but it felt to me as if it were trying to please too many different audiences and spreading itself far too thinly as a result.

Awww man, I'm just not keen on Ciel. I think its the eye-patch and the fact he's so damn small that don't get on with me xP

Yeah; i'm loving that too. In the second episode the contract is finally explained a little bit. I've avoided reading much about the show so it all comes as a surprise to me ^.^ - But I have to agree, the comic relief in the show really diffuses some of the horrific/serious moments. Heck, I never expected so much death in a show like this o_O

If it keeps up like this then i'll definately be buying it! At what episode does it diverge from the manga? Or is it different from the very start? And sorry for so many questions but; is the manga still on going, or completed? I like to know for budget reasons xP

And yeah; there's a lot of fangirl bait, but actually, I quite enjoy it. I mean, Sebastian is clearly beautiful, so I don't see why it shouldn't be embraced in such a show!

I couldn't stand Ciel at first but he sort of grew on me gradually. Sebastian is still better, though. Some of the characters you'll encounter by the end of episode 6 are cool too.

It's still ongoing. The end of volume 5 is where the manga starts going in a different direction with some things unfolding a little differently, and volume 6 is all new material. In anime terms episode 16 and beyond were all anime-only. There are some small differences earlier on as well but I think the anime did a pretty good job at making the new stuff entertaining.

Hopefully you're right; I haven't given him much chance to shine yet with only two episodes ;)

Got'cha :) I guess it could be costly then >.>

Gone back to Nana after stopping at episode 37 for some reason. No idea why because as far as I can remember I was loving it, and now I'm loving it again. Perhaps it was all too much for my fragile heart to bear or something.

And I never thought I'd say this, but yay for recap episodes! Nana has three of them, including one between 36 and 37, and it's thanks to that that I was able to jump right back in there.

Steins;Gate 9-11

I'm still not sure where this is going but I'm really enjoying just watching it for the interactions between Okarin and Kurisu.

Trigun 1-2

I didn't give Trigun a fair enough chance when I originally bought the dvds and dropped it nearly half way through. I've become a lot more patient since then and it always gets good praise so I'm giving it another watch.

Oh how I wish I could remember what episode I was on with this so I could get back into it. It was somewhere in the second dvd collection...I think. Maybe I should go back to the first recap episode and just go from there!

Sacred Seven ep 2 - Nah, not really feeling this show atm. Setup seems really wishy-washy, doesn't have the same quality of art direction or voice cast as something like Star Driver to hook you in... all that money had better start paying off soon.

No.6 ep 2 - This, on the other hand, is awesome. The lower budget is as clear at times as Sacred Seven's huge one, but it still manages to have an action scene more inventive than everything in SS put together. General world setup is compelling, guy fighting with his pet mouse makes me think of Baldur's Gate (sort of).
