Lupin III: The First (Film) The CGI here worked nicely for the Lupin series and the story was solid too. This also concludes my Lupin marathon as I wait for Part VI to air. 3.5/5

The art for this is cute, but I think it's not one for me. Maybe it works better as a 4-koma, but even at 6 minutes, it doesn't feel like there's much to it.

Lupin III: Part VI ep0

It's nice that they went to the trouble of giving Kiyoshi Kobayashi a little send off before he steps down as Jigen, but I think it feels like this was the work of the team behind the TV specials, rather than the mainline series - the animation is quite rough at times, particularly in the first half.

Seems like it'll be a fun romance show. Can't say the senpai comes off as annoying at all though, just a big softy.

Another wild ride from Marvel on Disney+. The quality Marvel are just pumping out of late is just absurd.

Feels like another step up in animation and for once Araragi isnt the narrator which is a good switch up for the series to make.

Kabukimonogatari rewatch
Really great story. I remember being disappointed it didnt end in a huge fight the first time round but this time I really appreciated the way the whole thing was put together. Probably the best entry so far.

Otorimonogatari rewatch
Season 2 is great. Love the way it mixes up the established formula. Nadekos descent is pretty shocking and the way its left open for future consequence is also pretty refreshing.

Onimonogatari rewatch
Obviously its deliberate but it is interesting that Kabuki is labelled as a Hajikuji story but is really a Shinobu story and this one is labelled as a Shinobu story but is really a Hajikuji story. Easily the most emotionally investing story.

Koimonogatari rewatch
I'd completely forgotten how good the OP animation for this was! I totally forgot we get a Kaiki narrated story. Man this story is so good. Probably the new best entry so far.

Hanamonogatari rewatch
The basketballs all over the court episode is always one that's stood out for me. And being a Kanbaru story it's another big highlight.

All in all season 2 is a massive improvement over a good season 1. The art and animation of course but mostly the storytelling is just massively improved. Season 1 is basically random chat with previous girl, new girl gets into shenanigans, ultra violence, resolution. Whereas season 2 just seems so much more smartly written. It's also nice that other characters get to be narrators this time.

Finished my When They Cry: Higurashi rewatch. While it certainly has a couple flaws I still absolutely love this series. Great direction, memorable characters, and a fantastic score by Kenji Kawai.

Finished Chihayafuru Season 2 (dubbed) and rewatched most of the first cour of Honey and Clover (I've decided to watch it subbed as it sounds way better in Japanese, even if it means watching a bit more slowly) - I'm about to start on Episode L which is one of my favourite anime episodes in any show! :) I also watched The Case of Hana and Alice (subbed, I don't think there is an English dub for it judging by the lack of any English cast listed on ANN), which was marvellous and please all watch it if you haven't seen it already :)
 
Nobunaga The Fool: currently on episode 17. Started out very promising, but it's got way too many unanswered questions and weird plot twists to maintain my interest. There are some good points but I'm not sure that's enough to make me want to watch it again.

After this, I'll be starting on Tamako Market/Love Story, which just arrived in my letterbox, and should prove a stark contrast to the constant violence and betrayal of NtF.

City Hunter ep21-22

I’d completely forgotten that 22 has an off-brand James Bond as the ‘baddie’, right down to the lovingly rendered Aston Martin. Unlike the caricature of Arnie earlier in the series though, it’s not such an obvious likeness of a particular actor, but, given the heavy eyebrows, I think it might Sean Connery.
