Your Top Most Wanted UK Anime Licenses? 2015 Edition

I like how Index/Railgun have been so high up in past polls that they now require their own rule. In regards to the different categories though, I don't really think there is enough anime being produced to justify such a large split.

Anyways:

TOP 10 MOST WANTED UK ANIME LICENCES OVERALL
01 - 10 points - Record of Lodoss War (and Chronicles of the Heroic Knight)
02 - 09 points - A Certain Magical Index & Scientific Railgun
03 - 08 points - Millennium Actress
04 - 07 points - Scrapped Princess
05 - 06 points - Magic Knight Rayearth
06 - 05 points - Patlabor Movies
07 - 04 points - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
08 - 03 points - Evangelion TV
09 - 02 points - Martian Successor Nadesico
10 - 01 point - Valvrave the Liberator

Honorable mention to Irresponsible Captain Tylor and Macross.
I already own Captain Tylor from the USA, but would be nice to see a Blu-Ray/collectors/remastered edition. Macross, I don't want to even waste putting on my list as it won't happen.

Nadesico and Evangelion would be higher, but I already own them on DVD. It's mostly a wish for a Blu-Ray/remaster. (I own Lodoss too, but want the Blu-Ray!)

Time for another reply-post. Check below! Btw, all votes so far are appreciated!

Unless there's another anime with the same name this one does have a dub. ^_~ So please change/move it. (Sorry for being such a pain with the dub/sub split folks.)

Jatz said:
02 - 09 points - Satoshi Kon Titles
Hmmmm, I had to Google this one. I take it you're mainly referring to Tokyo Godfathers and Millennium Actress? Part of me doubts I should allow this combinational vote.
Elaniel voted for Millennium Actress separately, so either I have to combine Millennium Actress into Satoshi Kon titles or the other way around. I'll need to have a good ponder about that one.

Filled everything.
Well done. ^^

Well, a medal has two sides ... And so has this vote.
Nothing against it on the one hand, though Sentai Filmworks hasn't licensed it yet and it is sub-only until then despite the expectations they will license and dub it in 2015 or 2016.
While the franchise got dubbed and got licensed, I think there is no solid proof this will get dubbed as of yet making me lean towards saying this belongs under the sub-only category.

BanzaiJedi said:
03 - 08 points - The World God Only Knows: Godesses
The OVAs didn't get dubbed, but the third season did. So this belongs in the dubbed category.

BanzaiJedi said:
07 - 04 points - Initial D
Half-dubbed franchises ... I could see this go under either category really, but it can only be under one of them I believe.
Ehhhmmm, seasons 1 through 4 have been dubbed and seasons 5+6 haven't even been licensed by Funimation (as of yet) so we may never get to see those getting dubbed.
So a part of me thinks it rightfully belongs with sub-only as one can't finish the story/franchise dubbed, another part thinks more of the franchise is dubbed than subbed so yeah.
For now, unless you or somebody else has a great argument for either I'm fine with it being in the subbed category.

It had to be done.

Duly noted. Dub/sub split will surely be gone next year.

Sadly enough. Especially Sentai Filmworks seems to be responsible for that though. Hope the tides turn again in 2015.

From the shows of 2014 I would have to go with Fate/Stay Night, Your Lie in April, Amagi Brilliant Park, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Aldnoah.Zero, but most of all I'd love Love LOVE a nice big pretty release of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun. It was easily the best show of 2014 for me.
You could've made a Love Live joke there if you wished. Such a waste of potential.
But okay, so 10 points (indicated by "most of all") to Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun and then from start to last descending points that means. Alright.

Mangaranga said:
I'd also like to see license rescues of Nisekoi and Chuunibyou from Kaze, so that someone in the UK can actually release these titles and do a decent job of it.
According to the rules Nisekoi ends up with 4 points and Chu2Koi with 3 for the overall category unless you give it all a proper order yourself.
And both 10 points in their respective sub-only/dub category probably. (much like with Britguy as there is no discussion possible unless you add more to the lists)

Mangaranga said:
It's good that Kaze are finally dead and all considering how awful their releases are, but sitting on licenses for good shows in the UK is another thing.
I hope they're completely done with UK distributing, that's for sure.
Kaze can sublicense shows or "return" licenses (at their own loss), I can see Andrew going after them if he's interested in them.
And there is as far as I have seen no solid proof Kaze has picked up the DVD/Blu-ray rights for some of the much wanted shows. Anyway ...

Mangaranga said:
For BD upgrades the only ones that jump to mind are Tatami Galaxy and Ergo Proxy off the top of my head.
Two points and one point, same comment as above. (And 10 & 9 points towards BD upgrades)

Yeah I just updated my list with what came to mind. I imagine eva blu rays sometime in 2016/2017 as with fate stay night UBW. With funimation releasing haruhi blu ray, I hope that it is in the UK my Christmas because that is one of my fav anime. The obvious monster and higurashi too. Honestly I'm not too fussed about a UK release of kara no kyoukai because I will probably just buy the jap blu rays in a few years (The dvd's will do for now but it is the sort of film series you want to see in the best quality possible which only the aniplex blu rays will provide. I don't mind for most other shows because we pay about a 1/10th of the price of the Japanese blu rays so a little loss in quality isn't that bad.)
My problem with Garden of Sinners really is that I dislike dvd subtitles. Wouldn't want to ever watch it on DVD.
I also hope there'll be a Haruhi BD rights licensing (rescue) happening this year. Never watched it because I am waiting for a Blu-ray release.
I hope for all the fans Evangelion will happen by the end of 2017, that's for sure.

Oh yeah forgot about mushi-shi.
Good to see at least someone says openly being inspired by other people's lists. (Not that who doesn't is doing something wrong!)

Noted. I also needed to move Nobunaga the Fool to the Dub section, so I've adjusted my votes. I also rearranged some other votes because every time I look at it my opinion seems to change.

EDIT 26-01-2015: Amended some of the Dub/Sub votes, other sections are unchanged.

Belated "warning", so for whoever who still wants to cast or amend votes, I'll allow everybody to do so until tomorrow 11.59PM. (instead of today 11.59PM)

I'll also try to get short PMs out to people who still need to change something (mostly due to my flawed idea for a dub/sub split).
Please try to get back to those as soon as possible.

On another note, I still need to publish my own votes. ^_^; Might put it in the "close-down post" to officially end the poll and start the tallying. Or I'll edit and repost/delete this post. We'll see.

I don't care about dubs so it was a right pain in the **** find out which shows are/will be dubbed and which aren't. Most of the shows I'm interested in seem to be sub only anyway.

- 1 of my last year's picks has been released. (Watamote) The other 4 haven't, therefore they are still on the list. I want to see My Love Story over here, but I wasn't sure where to put it as not sure whether it'll be dubbed or not. Most of the movies I'm interested in have been released already. I'd prefer to see more live action films released. I'm also indifferent to Blu-Ray so am not too bothered about upgrades. Anything Ghibli which isn't already on Blu-Ray would be a good upgrade though. I also can't think of much which I want to be rereleased. Picking my top 10 sub only releases was hard. There are about 10 more at least I could've mentioned.

I've edited my votes in my previous post.
I've been amazed at how much anime is dubbed, there are so many series that I just assumed would never get a dub but actually seem to have one. But then I only watch subs so I'm no expert on such things.

Also, if Mr Partridge takes a look through the votes I hope he'll take note of how many people want a Sound of the Sky BD

Surprised Evangelion (series) hasn't been mentioned for re-release. It costs a damn fortune to buy it 2nd hand & somebody is losing out on a lot of potential money there.

I have to admit I'm always surprised that shows like Evangelion don't get picked up by non-anime licensors with mega-bucks to splash around, given their recognition as cornerstone titles of the medium - but I suppose that sort of thing doesn't happen anymore since the anime bubble burst.

Surprised Evangelion (series) hasn't been mentioned for re-release. It costs a damn fortune to buy it 2nd hand & somebody is losing out on a lot of potential money there.
Well it's getting a blu ray release in japan in summer so I would guess that the blu rays will be licensed.

Rankings for the overall ones. I don't really care about the others. Some of these are licensed already, but were accepted anyway - in most cases it was specified that the poster wanted a blu-ray release, although in some cases that would require the UK licensor to do their own upscale as no bluray was ever made...

Lutga's post has been ignored as there are too many things and no ranking.

Hadn't logged in to AUKN for almost a full month, wasn't even aware of the Sentai Filmworks June schedule until 6PM today ...
However, it's time for part 1 of supposedly 6 data releases!
