This is the second entry into the Macross series I have watched (the first being Zero) and I'd say I enjoyed this more than that, not that Zero is bad mind you. What caught me the most about this movie though were the visuals, especially when Sharon Apple is on-screen.

The themes of the movie are quite relevant to today as well with the (unfortunate) rise of A.I. lately.

Macross II: Lovers Again will be the next entry I watch whenever AnimEigo's 4K release eventually releases which is looking to be sooner than later.

Having watched both versions of + I much prefer the separate episodes to the "movie" version, they together tell a more cohesive and complete version of the story.

Argument, research and big day.
An emotional roller-coaster about a down on his luck college student and his found family who are all mad about fishing. Some funny moments throughout, but the last 3 episodes have some tough scenes.
Art and animation were very good.

Finished.
I did skip episodes 10+11 because I could see what was going to happen, completed the last episode. So in my head it can be put away never to be viewed again.
Best scenes had Lily, a character full of excitement for life. Overall, not very exciting.
Skimmed the OVAs and the hot springs were as tame as anything.

Oh, how I abhorred the trailers for this, but curiosity got the better of me! I really don't like the way it looks, not a patch on the original series but it isn't as bad as I expected it to be, gonna stick with it for now.

Urusei Yatsura - Episodes 31 - 37

Very funny still, that's the first collection finished and to avoid burning out on it I'm going to watch some other stuff then come back to the second collection later in the year.

Snowball Earth - Episodes 5 & 6

It actually got a bit better for these two episodes but there was way too much exposition.

Man, it feels like I have been waiting forever for that Kickstarter to come out, but the latest updates do indicate that the wait should be over sometime soon(ish) 😂 . Given how good Macross II looked on Blu-ray, I can't wait to see in in 4k.

Despite all the extra stuff in the OVA version of Plus that gets cut out of the movie version, I much prefer the ending to the movie and that is my favourite way to watch Plus.
 
Aldnoah.Zero Episodes 4-9: I've dropped this one because it was annoying me a lot. Episode 9 edges towards some interesting ideas but the series' unemotional tone really strangles this one. It's just not interested in characters having conflict or misunderstanding or even just genuine dislike of each other. And because it hinges everything on the main character none of the supporting cast get to do anything or even push back against him. You'd think him shooting down the princess' guard leading to his capture and savage beating by her enemies would be a point of contention. But the show just glosses over it. So there's not much to get invested in.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society (2006) ~ what a mouthful. This is a continuation of the second season that aims high by adapting the Puppet Master storyline we had seen previously in The 1995 Film, but for Stand Alone Complex's more politically focused lens. It’s good but probably would have benefited from being a miniseries. By the end I struggle to 'get' what the plot was in a way that feels unusual for the franchise. Still a good time though. It made me realise that a lot of my foundness for the franchise comes from Stand Alone Complex. Because that version of the story where Saito and Ishikawa show up and I'm happy to have them.
