You need a copy of Pyrophoric Cult to watch now, before the New Movie.
 
Because 2045 in the trailers has zero of what made me like SAC anyway. It’s not just the animation the rest of it sounds crap the animation just makes it look laughable.

The thing about ARISE is that borders 1 & 2 were pretty decent and an interesting concept, but borders 3 & 4 just fall in quality in addition to Makoto acting like a punchable, frustrating and dislikable person whereas Makoto in Stand Alone Complex is reasonable, likeable and waifu.

As for 2045, I can tolerate CG unlike many folks and because of that I was able to enjoy titles like Ajin, BEASTARS and ULTRAMAN. I hear Hi-Score Girl is pretty good too.
 
Now Beastars actually looked good and Orange utilized 3D CG in that creatively and made something that couldn’t be done normally.
Most try to make a normal anime with CG instead and looks crap.

Oreshura Episode 9-13 (Complete. Boisterous rom-com fun with a Nisekoi premise twist to go along with it's fun likeable cast of characters, and an art/animation style that compliments the type of series this is.) 3.5/5

Sol Bianca: The Legacy - Episodes 1 - 6 [Final]

I've never seen this having avoided for years but having talked about it on the last episode decided to finally watch it, it lived up to the discord, it's ugly and incredibly dull.
 
Gankutsuou episode 18-19
Your Lie in April episode 18-19

Gankutsuou developed in a way that I really don't like. I get that it's a dark story, but I find it unnecessary.

Your Lie, on the other hand, kept focusing on its boring shounen-esque side characters like Aiza. I get what it's trying to say with its side characters' development, but I find that it distracts from the plot.
 
Princess Jellyfish
An enjoyable watch with some great characters but could've been better. The drugging and blackmail storyline seemed so dark compared to everything else and then the show ends with nothing being resolved and the fate of the building saved on a plot contrivance.

School Rumble season 2 rewatch
Amazing. This show is so good. The absurd and surreal elements really play to my sense of humour, the characters are great and the dub is a lot of fun. Shame they never made more. Also the OP for the series are great.

Hidamari Sketch season 1 rewatch
So gentle but so good, real easy watching. Artistically, the way the background change and can be abstract is quite reminiscent of shows like Negima?! and Monogatari.

Edit: so I had a look and Hidamari Sketch, Negima?! and Monogatari are all Shaft shows so I guess that makes sense.

I'm fine with most CGI anime too - and I love the CGI style of Ajin and Sidonia, and the Project Itoh titles too - but that waxy, plastic look of the characters in 2045 isn't so much to my liking. But, I'll still watch it anyway, and will also end up buying it on Blu-ray to add to my "diminutive" Ghost in the shell collection, lol.

I'll admit that 2045's presentation is concerning (reminds me of the vehicle in Appleseed Alpha's trailer). I do like the ending song though.
 
The CGI in Appleseed Alpha is miles above the look of the CGI in 2045. Appleseed Alpha looks like CGI from a cut scene in an HD game, which doesn't bother me at all - whereas 2045 looks like an amateurish version of Pixar CGI, which is the one style of CG I never want to see used in anime. I don't want my Japanese anime looking like a western 3D Disney movie. 🤢

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie (English audio) - Film

That concludes the mini-backlog venture batch #B.405. Went through a lot of interesting episodes though ARISE and its film was a disappointing and forgettable experience if you ask me (it didn't grab my attention enough during its latter parts probably because the antagonist wasn't interesting enough and Makoto's portrayal isn't as great as SAC).
