The Devil is a Part Timer!-Episodes 3-5

I think I'm disapointed with this show because it's not what I really expected. I thought this would be a Slice of Life Comedy, primarily set in the McDonald's but it's much more of a Fantasy show with a story and more character development. It's odd to complain about it, but I just wanted a dumb show about the devil in a fast food restaurant.

Episode 5: Okay, this one had a few pretty good gags, probably the funniest episode so far. I got a good chuckle out of the "I even did the whole You Killed My Father bit!" line.

Mr. Osomatsu ep4

Having seen the mahjong/wacky races episode at a friend's place recently and found it pretty funny, I thought I'd give Osomatsu another shot. I dunno though, this one didn't do much for me.

Kiznaiver-Episode 12 (Complete)

All things considered, a weak finale.

The Devil is a Part Timer!-Episodes 6 and 7

I'm not sure if I just haven't been paying close enough attention but I have no idea what is going on at all in regards to the story. Why are those Priest looking guys are trying to kill Emi? I have no clue.

The Garden of Sinners Chapter 3: Remembering Sense of Pain

Definitely the best of the three I've seen so far. It was a good mix of the action from the first movie and the character focus of the second. Very good!

The way i see it, The Church (aka "those Priest looking guys") is now corrupt, whether they have been all along or just since Satan left Este Isla i can't remember. Now them wanting to kill Emi is abit weird since she used to work for them but since they've seen her working with Satan they probably think she can't be trusted any longer, plus she now knows they've become corrupt so she did go back to Este Isla she would most likely tell the people about The Church now being corrupt so they wouldn't want that to happen.

Pani Poni Dash-Episodes 20 and 21

I have no idea why it's taking me so long to get through this. I just seem to watch it in fits and starts. It's been 80 days since I started watching. 80! I'm going to try and finish it this week.

Episode 21: Yay, I finally got a reference!

My Hero Academia (Japanese audio) - Episode 13 (Complete)
And you thought there is never a girl online? (Japanese audio) - Episodes 10-12 (Complete)
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- (Japanese audio) - Episode 13

Over the past few days
Bungo Stray Dogs - Episodes 09-12 (Complete)

KIZNAIVER - Episodes 09-12 (Complete)
A rushed finale, that unfortunately lets down the promise of previous episodes.

Twin Star Exorcists - Episodes 01-03
This seems to be the most widely hated show of the season, and I can't quite work out why. It's called Twin Star Exorcists and it's adapted from a manga published in a Shonen Jump spin-off, which should probably tell you everything you need to know about it. So I'm slightly confused as to why everyone on other sites seems to be upset that it isn't Ghost in the Shell. It's a weird hodgepodge of ideas and tropes from other series thrown together. Some of the ideas work and others don't, but unfortunately often the ideas that don't work seem to be caused by bad direction, rather than because there's anything wrong with them. I wonder if maybe giving a show with so many moving parts to get right to a first time unsupervised director was a bad idea. The director has previously served under Seiji Kishi for a couple of the Persona 3 films and Persona 4: The Golden Animation, and I have to wonder whether a director more straight-faced and traditional like Seiji Kishi might have been able to hammer the series into something that gels a bit better and doesn't feel so all over the place.

I've also heard complaints about how slow the show is being, which is weird to me, as these three episode felt really fast and almost had too much going on. I feel like the series might benefit from letting us spend more time with it's character where nothing much is happening, but the show seems like brief moments of character interaction before people are immediately called away to do the next funny thing or the next action thing in order to distract us. The jokes are surprisingly funny and the action scenes are generally good, so it's weird that it doesn't quite work and I can't quite place why.

I do really like that it switches between 2 or 3 different art styles for various things (I particularly like the look of the demons they're excising), and Natsuki Hanae puts in an excellent voice performance as the lead, unfortunately it's Pierrot so the art could go at any moment, and Natsuki Hanae on his own can't quite save the show. However, there's nothing wrong with it and I see the potential for this to be a good fun show and I hear the manga gets better a few chapters/volumes in, so I'm definitely going to stick around for at least a few more episodes. I mean, the fact I was even able to watch three episodes in one night, when I was struggled to do one a night earlier in the week, shows I must have really been enjoying it.

I watched a few final episodes over the weekend.

Kiznaiver: Really liked the show; it's the first Trigger title which really resonated with me (controversial opinion). Great characters too.

My Hero Academia: Sort of weak but a good, interesting cast of characters so I'll keep watching for season two. It's not really reinventing anything we haven't seen a million times before, it's just retreading familiar ground competently.

Ushio & Tora: After dragging horribly in the middle the show finally got its act together and ended well. I still sort of want to kill everyone in the cast, but it was worth it eventually.

I can't find my last post here (and didn't look beyond a couple of pages), but I have a feeling I didn't report the weekend's watching soooo.

Kiznaiver episode 12 (finished) - I agree with Rui that the show really left an impact on me and overall I am fairly impressed. The biggest issue with Kiznaiver is that some of the earlier episodes were far too slow and that episode 9 was a true masterpiece that the final could not recreate. Episode 12 goes for the big spectacle rather than true raw emotion like episode 9 and that lets it down a lot for me. I cared less for the cast in this episode than I have all season which is a shame.

Flying Witch episodes 11 & 12 (finished) - It never stopped being something magical all the way until the end. I hope we get another season someday.

My Hero Academia episode 13 (finished) - Ended off where I thought it would. I'm looking forward to next season as reading the manga I know the story really picks up.

Re:Zero episode 13 - It's a shame we don't know where Subaru's restart point is now because he really needs to undo all this crap he's caused. I'm thinking he'll either get killed by someone or give in to his feelings about having screwed it all up and just off himself (although I'd like his new restart point to be past the point of his battle with the knight because then he can't fix it all by dying which might make for an interesting story).

Re:Zero-Episode 13

Being Subaru is suffering.

The Devil is a Part Timer!-Episodes 8-10

I do feel this show has gotten funnier as it's gone on, mostly through Chiho's expressions. Susano's reaction to technology has gotten a few laughs out of me too.

The Garden of Sinners Chapter 4: The Hollow Shrine

I liked this one a fair bit. I was a little worried the show wouldn't actually explain Shiki's power, and the 2nd film was as much of an origin as were were going to get, so I'm glad they did here. The only thing I was disappointed in was how rushed the Toukou and Mikiya meeting was. It's just a single scene that's a couple of minutes long when it really should have been more than that. How did Mikiya even find her? Did she advertise herself as a Magus? I mean I doubt it, Mikiya didn't even know Shiki had powers at this point and it's not like you can just find a Magus in the Yellow Pages. So, under what pretense did her hire her? Considering the scant 35 minute running time, they really could have spent some time on this.

I'm really looking forward to watching the 5th film tomorrow. It has the highest MAL rating by a fairly significant margin and is also almost double the length of any of the other films, clocking in at a little over 2 hours, so I'll be interested to see how they utilize the time.
