Xbox Update - 1million kicked from Xbox live

I dunno how many know about it, but apparently an update in the last couple of days that Xbox set up has software which checks for modded hardware and such, and if found, stops you from using the xbox live service. Seems like a credible way to deal with the piracy problems they have been having, but with new modding bits being built to combat the update, it seems more like a temporary fix than anything else.

Anyone else seen/heard anything on it?
 
Lol, love it. Serves that muppet right for pirating console games. Everyone knows its PC games & software that are fair game for pirating & when you pirate console games & mess with consoles you cross the imaginary line.

I hope 'Raz' cries so much that the loss of fluids makes him thirsty, & that his nearest coke/beer has gone flat & has a fly in it. :twisted:
 
And they decided to do this on the release day of COD: MW2, the most anticipated multi-player game of this console generation? And despite the fact that unlike PSN, people have to pay for Xbox Live?



Do people need any more proof of the evils of Microsoft?

Modding a console =/= pirating games.

Everyone mods DVD players to be multi-region, for instance.
Some people mod their consoles to be able to get independent content / games. Although 98% of the people who mod it, must be pirates thought.

Regardless of that, MS is the root of all evil in computers - they made us believe that if a computer crashes it is our fault.
 
However I'm sure at least some of the banned people only had their console chipped to play imports & did not pirate. They are the innocent ones.

Modding a console/dvd player does not make you a pirate - it is the software that you then get (and where you get it from) that determines whether you are a pirate.

Raz said that he 'saved' around £600.00.

When my brother got his Sega Saturn modded, he did not save money as he was paying around £60.00 per game for Japanese import games.

As for MS's timing - it is a case of sending a message. Do it when the biggest release of the year is out to max the number of bans in order to make the news.

Have you even used both of them? I've had a 360 and I currently own a PS3 and XBox Live kicks the **** out of PSN.

I'd pay if Sony made PSN not suck arse.

Disagree, PSN works perfectly, no problems at all.

Tell me what you think specifically is wrong with PSN?

I use it & there are no problems. I play online games fine. I download games fine. I don't have lag problems. I get all this free.

there's a difference, most dvd players have multi-region built in, you just need to know the code. In this case your physically going into the x-box and messing around with it.
