Which words come to mind when you think of anime?

Artistic, original, divisive, misunderstood, contradictory. Uh... Japanese?

Happy to elaborate and discuss when I'm back this evening, right now I'm going to disappear for a few hours.
 
Wild colours and SFX mainly, wierdly enough, probably inspired by old videos in NTSC. Occasionally, memories of old 'cons and groups of otaku chatting in hotels...
 
sometimes surreal, sometimes serious, women in their late teens/early 20's groping each other by suprise, high school rom-coms, ridiculously long fights in which half the time spend is either powering up or the villan explaining their motives, stigmatised by the general public as cartoons and finally, some of the coolest shows that people would watch if they were live action
