Where do you guys buy your R1 DVDs these days?

ilmaestro

State Alchemist
Having only bought a few over the past couple of months or so, I was looking for a couple of things and DVDPacific (for a long time my retailer of choice) seem to be out of/low stock on a lot of stuff.

Any recommendations? Amazon.com?

Be warned if you buy a lot from Amazon.com - I bought part 1&2 of Ouran High from them and got slapped with £17 customs charges D:

If you can't avoid buying from a store that will post to you from outside europe, you can request gift wrap. As long as the package does not have an invoice pasted outside it, you should be ok.

Not all stores will do that though.

Cheers for the replies, guys. I keep forgetting about PlayUSA, even though I've ordered from them in the last month or two. ^^;

Never heard of axelmusic, might give them a look.

I have started to use Axelmusic.com recently as they ship from inside the EU so no extra import duty but the prices may be a little higher than some places because they have already paid duty. That said they do tend to be cheaper than UP1.co.uk and Otaku.co.uk which I have moved to using now and again from the US stores deepsiscount.com and dvduniverse.com as the dollar is crap. I use playusa.com a fair bit if things are under the £18 duty limit as they tend to be cheaper. Otherwise I tend to keep an eye on the amazon and play traders.

I didn't previously know about Axelmusic. Along with Otaku and United Publications, I now have three ways to buy R1 products over £18 without risking customs fees. I suppose the store I use for each order will depend on the shipping price for the product I want.

I've noticed animecornerstore can do that. There's still a risk of customs opening an order anyway. Has anybody been caught in spite of the seller marking something as a gift?

I had the whole Shin Angyo Onshi series sent from bk1. They didn't do a damn thing lol.

Other times it exceed the limit slightly, but the packaging was in Japanese/English with lots of small boxes and options, so I assume they didn't want to bother with it, since the package wasn't so very big.
