Where do you buy your anime models from?

Because I was thinking of getting this number:

I checked good old Google currency converter, and it equates to around £38.45 (¥5500). The only UK store I've found sells it for £45, but I figured that it's always going to cost more due to the company shipping it from Japan. But either way, I just wanted to check up with you guys just in case I'm getting ripped off and there's a better store out there somewhere. Oh, and no 'eBay lulz XD' please.

Also, I don't know if this is in the right sub-forum to post this topic or not, sorry if it isn't. :/

Your best bet is places like Play Asia or as its actually got this model, you could check Up1. Hopefully that'll help, i could probably find a couple others, but they are the main two i use for stuff like that, or rather when i did.

The website I was referring to was Up1. Sorry, I should've made that clear. So you think that Up1 is my best bet?

Well from the sites i know of, yeah. I would have suggested ToysLogic however for the figure in question, they are sold out, and i've never used them, so i don't know how good they are for deliveries, customs, etc etc. It might be best to ask others before you buy though, just in case.

United Publications are the only online store I use for figures. Ordering from abroad means hefty postage and probable customs charges. It might be worthwhile keeping an eye on YesAsia, as they pay the VAT and offer free shipping, but they do tend to be expensive.

I've used UP1 and TokyoToys before and can certainly recommend both of them. The Vocaloid Hatsune Miko figure is pretty cool (did i get the spelling right? lol)

I get my anime figures from various different online stores. They have to be UK based though. I know of a few online sites that sell amazing figures for amazing prices, and as a result I have many decent anime and game character figures around my room.

My most cherished figure is my Van (GunXSword) PVC statue. It was modeled by my favourite anime character designer and it looks so authentic and brilliant! I also love my Kogami Akira Nendoroid simply because she has the angry expression I love and.....just because she is my heroine!

Knowing me I'm probably missing out on the major sites, but I have used "archonia" a few times. They don't have a massive amount of stock, but they had enough for me.

However due to shipping costs it works out better to buy in one large order and get delivery with a courier and tracking number.

However I haven't used it in a while, as it's based in Europe and since the pound went iffy the prices in pounds have almost been as much as the prices in Euro's :S

I don't buy figures often. There's only 2 which I have ordered online; An L (Death Note) nendoroid from poweranime.com, and a Nozomu Itoshiki (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei) nendoroid from kidnemo.com.

Even though the Itoshiki nendoroid is still on pre-order until Thursday, I have bought a plushie from Kid Nemo before, which arrived quickly and safely. Fingers crossed Itoshiki arrives on the same way!
So when that figure arrives, I'll update you on it.

I wouldn't recommend Power Anime though. Not only was the payment very complicated (it got rejected a few times), but also, once my payment was taken in, I never even got the figure! I asked about it since it was taking so long to arrive, they said they had lost my payment or something.
So, that was £30 spent for nothing. No recommendations unless you live in the States.

Oh, and don't try Ebay either, since there's a lot of counterfeits on there.

Alot of the counterfeits on ebay appear to be from China (shouldnt be surprising as they dont have copyright law over there!). Best getting them directly from Japan in my opinion.

True that. If you do decide to try Ebay anyway, follow this advice.
I'll admit, I actually buy a majority of my Azumanga Daioh plushies on Ebay, since I normally can't find them anywhere else (if I can, it's a plushie I already own), but that's the best advice when looking for anime mercho on there.
Don't trust US or UK imports either, as they may also be counterfeit. Your best bet is by buying them from a Japan-based seller.

Oh, well that sucked. UP1, after saying that they do, and after 6 days from purchase, say that the Miku model isn't in stock. I'm gonna check out this Archonia, it seems to be the cheapest. Does anyone know the P&P charges there?

up1 have done that a few times with me too.. they told me they didn't Saber before and offered me a different one so I agreed and decided to have this Dark Saber instead. When the model arrived it was the original one I ordered and they never told me, I would of complained but I got the one I wanted in the first place. =P
I still use them though, because they are quite cheap if they can get the models.

Archonia are offering the model for around £59 (Including P&P). I was hoping for it to be a bit cheaper, but is this a fair price?

It's just over £40 (with SAL shipping) through HLJ, but they're confusingly listing it as 'order stopped', even though it has already been released. Perhaps they're waiting for a reissue?

They're also mentioning a preorder of a 'supercell' figure (basically, a 3D framed thing you hang on your wall) of the same character which looks absolutely mental if you track down a picture.
