When does Naruto finish?

Just a simple question I want to ask. As stated in other threads, I own the first two volumes of Naruto on DVD, and I'm curious as to whether I should continue collecting it. I wanted to know if the DVD volumes will continue onto the fillers or if the distributors plan to stop releasing the DVDs around the time period that Hurricane Chronicles begins.

DVDs and the dub will continue into the fillers. Naruto ends at episode 135, After that it carries on till episode 220 in filler. Shippuden starts again at episode 1. If you were to carry on collecting the DVDs you would need to buy up till the 11th or 12th volume for collection of Naruto is complete.

To be honest, You don't have to worry about Shippuden (Hurricane Chronicles) for say... another couple of years. Don't worry, Your not missing out much with it. Ultimately its fail >.> Its keeps the fans happy though.

Well, if i remember what i've read around, i think part one of the story finishes around 150 or so, then goes into non stop filler to 220. After that it goes to part 2 or shippuden. I would expect they will release every episode, even when Shippuden gets released here, whenever that maybe.

EDIT: nevermind, Jayme bet me to it.

Yeah buy the main eps and avoid the fillers that way it'll cost you less. I like Shippuuden, naruto grown up is far more interesting in my opinion plus I kinda wanna see how extreme he has become

I got the impression that Viz were skipping the filler and going straight onto the second series - or at least dubbing them at the same time - no?

I'm not Naruto expert, so I'm probably wrong.

I agree with that. Now that hes grown up he should have atleast SOME new moves, i kind of prefer it to the first series :S in a way i geuss...
Anywayz! If you have the money, yer sure collect it. Its good up till episode 135 but after that i got bored very fast.

Hmm, I dunno, since I assume they've licenced the whole thing (can't get partial release licences, as far as I'm aware), is it really likely they'd not release 85 episodes? Quite a potential hit to their profits... assuming people'd buy them in the first place.

Viz said they have big plans for Naruto in 2008.

My best guess is that Viz'd release Shippuuden and the fillers simultaneously. At least I'm hoping they will : p.

I think Manga mentioned releasing something of an OVA/overview volume to cover the section of filler before carrying on with the story.

Interesting. I'd actually be surprised if the filler wasn't released on DVD to be honest. I actually liked the filler to be honest! (from what I saw)

EDIT: And besides. The filler kind of makes the two year gap between episode 135 and Shippuuden seem like a lot of time has passed. It all adds to the effect.

... WHAAAAT. The filler is horrible, then again, you don't read manga, do you? >_>
Some people like the filler. Also, from what I remember, the tv ratings (in Japan) for the filler weren't significantly lower compared to other episodes of the series. Which kinda indicates that outside of the 'hardcore' market, most people won't care/notice the difference. Although, I'd think that the hardcore market is a lot more significant (proportion-wise) in the UK than it is in Japan...

Well yeah, if the series had gotten low ratings it wouldn't have lasted as long as it did and would have been Rurouni Kenshin'd.

I wanna see this filler...just because it's new stuff that I haven't already read. =/

And if there's anything anywhere near as silly as the Goku/Piccolo driving filler episode, I'll be happy. 8)

I read the manga after I've watched the anime. Anime is the first priority, and that's what I'm spending money on first, manga will be about for years but limited anime items won't. It'll come to a time when I can start a proper manga collection though =). I have the entire Naruto Part 1 to read now anyway, which I'll be doing after my A-levels!

Another point I'd like to add. If I'm honest, when I was watching Naruto back in the day (when I had time to..) I didn't actually realise I was watching filler until I started reading on forums and such places that there was such a fuss about it. I knew something was different though, because it just didn't feel the same, albeit some parts of it were very interesting, such as when they go back to Orochimaru's lair, stuff happens, can't really remember, all I remember is some guy who can manipulate chakara strings and subsequently ties some to Naruto's heart and nearly kills him. That was one of the most odd things I've seen, it was an indication that this wasn't the same Naruto as well, though. Also when err can't remember her name, but the girl who's the sister of Neji, she gets this new move and in general becomes a lot more confident, that whole arc was pretty awesome. That and a lot of the other random stuff that happened, it really wasn't bad.

You're a Naruto fan and you got the name of a character and the relation to another character of that character wrong!? >_>

Yeah, you mean Hinata. The best filler episode was the golden shower episode though, or the fish people arc, hilariously bad.

I've not watched it in years. Brain does not compute properly.

Fine then, they're in the same 'clan' 'group' kind of thing, from different families though.

From what i hear, the last episode of them, 220 is the only one that has anything to do with the actual storyline, for the fact that Naruto finally leaves with Jiraiya to go train for three years, although it only ends up to be two and a half, the actual story finishes really early, and the rest is just pure filler.
