What manga are you reading now?

Since I Was Abandoned After Reincarnating, I Will Cook With My Fluffy Friends v1: entertaining isekai starring a 17 year old princess who is taken over by a woman from Japan, just as her worthless fiancee of a prince dumps her for a scheming wench (I'm paraphrasing). She promptly get betrothed to the king of a neighbouring country, is installed in a country house and spends her time baking her favourite sweets from Japan and fondling furry creatures. It's fun and has a fair bit of intrigue/bitchiness. Not sure how long the author can sustain it, but there are at least 5 more novels to get around to.

Didn’t I Say To Make My Abilities Average In The Next Life v1: Well, someone has been studying physics and statistical analysis, and decided to make an isekai focusing on these fields. Who said these things can't be educational, too? Lots of good action, intrigue and high school hijinks/romance. Nicely written and a really fun way to explain averages.

Koyoharu Gotouge Before Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
- Chapter 1 - 4 (Complete)

These were some decent short stories by the author of Demon Slayer though a bit confusing at times as to what is going on I found here and there which she admits herself in the book. The first story is what later became Demon Slayer and was interesting to see what ideas carried over, were changed or scrapped. If you enjoy Demon Slayer I'd say give these a read if you're interested in its origin.

Didn’t I Say To Make My Abilities Average In The Next Life v2-v13: While it is an entertaining journey through various kingdoms, with our hero being fought over by her former schoolmates and current hunting party (all girls), I am very concerned at the ridiculously young ages of the characters (starting at 10, with the oldest turning 18 around v10). Maybe the girls in this world mature very young. I would prefer it if the author didn't also make it more creepy with all the men in the story lusting after the aforementioned little girls.

Survival in Another World with My Mistress! v1: this could more aptly be titled Trapped in a Fantasy Survival Sim with a hot and horny elf princess with huge boobs. Lots of detail about the mechanics of crafting in survival sims, showing the absurdity of the process (in the eyes of the native characters). I can see this veering into harem territory, if not for the fact that his mistress is very strong and extremely jealous (at the moment, anyway).

Survival in Another World with My Mistress v2-5: Getting tired of the "how many monster girls can I have sex with every night" part of the storyline, but I'm not the target audience - teenage boys living at home who play a lot of survivalist video games and dream of the day they are summoned to another world where their skills will see them treated as a God by the grateful sexy female locals. Oh, and it's yet another isekai where the hero has infinite extra-dimensional storage capacity.

Not sure I have the willpower to continue with this.

Struggling to make it through volume 1 of The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind!. The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind!. Nearly 200 pages in and nothing has happened. The "hero" has been summoned to defeat yet another demon lord, but the ritual dragged his two friends along with him. Our protagonist is secretly a make in Japan and is massively overpowered and angry at having no way back home (so he can submit his dissertation). He's whiny and endlessly trying to second guess what sort of isekai world he has ended up in (which I thought was the reader's job). And that's everything that has occured. Hero is in training, secret mage is sneaking round the castle and the Japanese girl is fending off the local princess which trying to get the hero to notice her romantically. A decent editor would have cut about 100 pages of waffle.

Jiro Kuwata’s Batman Volume - Originally published in 1966 to capitalise on the Batman Craze of the Adam West series it’s been collected and published by DC. This was a blast. If you just want an episodic series of solving unusual crimes then it’s an excellent choice.

So far Kuwata hasn’t used any established Batman villains and has simply created his own. They can be as subtle as a brick to the face but their complete lack of humility is part of what makes them charming. There’s only one episode I think isn’t good but all the others have been outstanding at the very specific thing the author is trying to do.

The Reincarnator and the Goblin Maiden’s Happily Ever After: Using a Past Life to Keep a Joyful Wife V1: Looking for a soppy romance between a young man who, in his previous life was afflicted with such ugliness he lived as a recluse, and a young maiden, daughter of a duke and niece of the queen, who is afflicted with a curse of ugliness? This is surprisingly good. I especially like how it alternates between the two main characters, so we get perspectives from both side of the relationship. Also, it appears our hero was not living in our earth in his previous life, which is a nice change. Just be warned: it is VERY sweet and best taken in small doses. :)

Yashiro-kun's Guide to Going Solo: Enjoyable look at the changing dynamics between the cool kids (extroverts) and loners (introverts) at a Japanese high school, where our hero, Yashiro-kun, is pestered by a couple of cool girls who want him to teach them how to enjoy being alone. Well written with some nice twists.

In Another World with Household Spells v1: Entertining isekai in the usual pseudo medieval world, with the protagonist (Patience Granger) being the (dead and taken over by a woman from Japan) ten year old daughter of a penniless viscount. Sent to school, she has plans to make some money to support her family but is waylaid by the children of the royal family. It amazes me, reading these books, what ten year olds are capable of these days.

Anyway, the story is pleasant, well written and has most of the standard tropes (cliches?) we've come to expect in this genre.

Adventurers of Veremist: Fractured Kingdoms - My fren is a published author now woo! I loved her first novel it was rly good, it's about an elf warrior called Sina who goes on a journey with a band of mismatched adventurers who underestimate her, while an anti-monarchist uprising is happening, but one lead mostly by selfish aristocrats who just don't want any authority of the king over them, but are still happy to treat the poor/workers/downtrodden/vulnerable like garbage. I really got into it and would recommend it to fantasy fans, you can buy it from Amazon in paperback under that title (I will note that I read a late-stage draft rather than the completely finished published version so one chapter has been reworked a bit since I read it, but it was a really good book anyway!) :)

Neighborhood Story Volume 2 - I'm really enjoying this and keen to read the second half, I continue to be blown away by the stellar quality of the artwork and how it's reproduced in these gorgeous editions :)

Lore Olympus Volume 8 - I love this series so much, now that a big part of the main narrative arc is concluded I'm keen to see what direction the series will take next, even if it kept going with secondary character stories I'd prob still read it cuz all of them are so fascinating :)

Cardcaptor Sakura Collector’s Edition Volume 1 - So incredibly cute sweet and wholesome and super gay I love this, def looking forward to reading the rest :)

Sweat and Soap Volumes 1-2 - Fun, sexy adult workplace romance with a cute central couple and some nice messages about self-acceptance, I could see the rest of this being either really enjoyable or going down a problematic rabbit hole to hell depending on how some things are handled, but I have generally heard good things about it so I'm optimistic :)

The Little Mermaid & Other Fairytales by Hans Christian Andersen MinaLima - A gorgeous edition with satisfyingly thorough retellings of the stories, containing details that have been omitted from many other versions, I mostly really enjoyed this though The Red Shoes is just ridiculously full of excessive religious "piousness", like DGMW the idea of the shoes themselves is a really interesting one but young girls are allowed to be into dancing and boys without getting their feet chopped off! I understand Andersen prob had some pretty big trauma around that kinda stuff himself being closeted and everything, but I'm glad attitudes have progressed/changed somewhat regarding such things! I loved The Little Mermaid, The Nightingale (also known as The Emperor's Nightingale), The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina, and The Snow Queen the best but most of the other stories here were very enjoyable too. I did raise an eyebrow at the soldier in The Tinderbox's reason for chopping off the witch's head, like we don't know she actually did anything bad, we didn't even find out she'd done anything bad later on in the story, so he pretty much just killed her for wanting him to mind his own business after she gave him lots of gold - boo! DGMW I'm not one to pick at everything in these old stories, those were the only two things that bugged me, and I really enjoyed the book overall, the interactive elements were cool though I would have been as happy with just still illustrations, but yes, lovely book, it was also interesting to compare in my mind with some of the best known film versions of these stories :)
