What manga are you reading now?

Bibliophile Princess v1-v2: all the elements of the anime are in these first two volumes, interweaved with fragments of other stories and a LOT more soppy romance betweel Elianna and Prince Christopher. Enjoyable but maybe in slightly smaller doses :-)

The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody v1: this should really be titled The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as the Greatest Demon Lord, as he is reborn with all his memories and powers, while the 5,000 years that have elapsed has seen everyone else get weaker. I wasn't greatly impressed with this, as it's your typical overpowered protagonist building a harem of beautiful and talented (but very submissive) girls.

Started reading The Apothecary Diaries, but I think I have a dodgy translation. Here's the first couple of lines (the notes say it was done be "the translation group"):

(I want to eat open air kushiyaki….)
Maomao sighed, gazing up at the downcast sky.
Her surroundings was the most beautiful, dazzling world she had seen yet, and now was within the muddied dregs that squirmed in miasma.
(Has it already been three months? I wonder if dad is eating.)

Pet Shop of Horrors Collector's Edition Volume 2 - I enjoyed this overall but the degree of apathy/disdain that Count D has for humans is pretty distasteful tbh, guy was literally talking about making a child into a human guinea pig... her ****** family were more deserving of being taught a lesson than her, and no, not all human parents are like them... they were just horrible and a big part of the reason she was the way she was - I don't object to everything that happened I get that she needed an empathy lesson, but like... wtf was he gonna do to her if she hadn't been rescued at the last minute? boos loudly

I've watched the anime only.
Are we supposed to like the Count? I can't really remember.
Maybe your feelings are the right ones.
I did find it really creepy, which was nice.

I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level v1: very entertaining all female isekai forming a harem, I think. Sort of. Our hero worked herself to death and was granted immortality in her new life. After 300 years of living alone next to a village, she suddenly becomes famous and attracts an assortment of eclectic friends. Very relaxing and laid back story, with the occasional battle.

Currently re-reading Maison Ikkoku. Incredibly nostalgic considering I first lent it from a dear friend who isn't even with us anymore. That was just over twenty years ago. Picked up my own copies when Viz re-released it a few years back and hadn't gotten round to the whole thing. Decided it was time to revisit it.

It's one of Rumiko Takahashi's best series in my opinion. It's quite funny in places and very sweet and wholesome a lot of the time.

Little side note and question for fellow Manga collectors. Since there's not a thread for quality control on Manga (that I can find anyway) does anyone own the deluxe editions of Trigun?

The reason I ask is that I wanted to pick up the new deluxe edition hardcovers but I've seen people say on Reddit that the paint used for the gold leaf on the lettering has come off on their copy. I'd definitely have buyer's remorse if i picked up what was supposed to be a definitive edition only to have bits of it fall off after the fact

Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22 - 26 - Chapter 1 - 4 (Complete)

These were some decent short stories for the most part, I'd definitely like to see an expansion on Mermaid Rhapsody and Nayuta of the Prophecy.

Can't say I was a big fan of Wake-Up-as-a-Girl Syndrome though, wasn't a fun gender-bend story.

#DRCL midnight children Volume 1 - A reimagining of Dracula that has one of the most unnerving pages I’ve seen in a comic before. Shin'ichi Sakamoto has an interesting method of building tension by having the panels get smaller and smaller until your eyes are focused at the very bottom conner of the page. Which means turning the page is going to make whatever comes next feel gigantic. Another interesting art choice is that the panelling is extremely simple and the series only breaks from this format of squares and rectangles when something supernatural occurs. Very interesting and I excited to read more

Looking through my bookshelf I've decided to restart NTR Netsuzou Trap. Another series I got half way through then decided to put on hold

Also another series I shouldnt really be reading at work lol

I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level v2-v7: just plodding along. Nothing too exciting happens, but it's a pleasant diversion.

Also been catching up on non-anime related stuff, mostly the 500+ page autobiography by Ingrid Bergman, which was packed with fascinating stories about the media frenzy and moral approbation directed at actors in the 1930-50s. Not to mention a quite gruesome recounting of how her daughter Isabella (Rosselini) was operated on for scoliosis as a teenager. Very ewww.

Finished NTR

Thing with manga with shock value is you need to at least like the characters and this misses the mark by miles

Better than the Anime but still rubbish

Finished Pleasure & Corruption

Great series 🥰

Fragments of Horror - Chapter 1 - 8 (Complete)

A collection of short stories from Junji Ito and I'd say it is a pretty great collection overall. Dissection-chan and Whispering Woman were my favourites but I also found Gentle Goodbye quite sweet which was surprising.
