what characters would you choose to represent anime

Animefreak17

Godhand
if you was making a poster or there was a really really big anime convention coming up and they was making a really big poster of with animes characters or mechs or mascots or what ever.

which well known or popular 10 characters or mechs ect would you choose to be in that poster to represent anime.

and it can be in a justice league look like supermans in front
or whatever.

i think id choose

astro boy
goku
al and ed from FMA
spike cowboy bepbop
gurren largann
between sailor moon or sakura from cardcaptor
i have a few other ideas but il get back to you on that

Well I hardley think Tim Burke is anime influenced so anything with DC on it would look odd.

So yeah Teto Kasane would be a good one to have, since I'm tired off seeing Miku on everything, especially at the expo

Hmmm.
I'd choose:

Al/Ed from FMA (they're iconic amongst the younger generation, and preferable to someone like Naruto)
Wing Zero (Gundam)
Holo (Spice and Wolf)
Nagisa+Tomoyo (Clannad) OR Yuuichi+Ayu (Kanon 06) [Can I count these as one choice as they're pairings?]
Shana/Taiga (probably Shana as some of the art is more visually drawing)
Princess Mononoke (the image where she's standing there with blood on her face)
Kaneda (Ikira)
Hachimaki inc EVA suit (Planetes)
Revy (Black Lagoon)
Takizawa (Eden of the East) OR Komoya/Senjougahara (Bakemonogatari)

Please note I include all pairings as a single choice.

Obviously at least a few of those are interchangeable dependant on what sort of fanbase you're going for as there are other fairly iconic characters you could use, but they're a fairly good mix of series.

I actually had this problem when making a poster for my college's anime club. I can't remember all the mascots I used (Especially as the actual image is on my old, broken laptop) but I can remember:
Haruhi Suzumiya
Lupin III
Totoro
Kotoko and Irie (Itazura na Kiss)
Motoko (Ghost in the Shell).
Haro (Mobile Suit Gundam)
Kakashi (Naruto)

If I had to do that again, I'd probably keep them all but also add Rio (Sound of the Sky), Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) and Madoka (Puella Magi Madoka Magica).

If that ends up looking too crowded, I'd probably axe Motoko and Kakashi though.

i think a few authors would be a good idea too.

Wing Zero and Lupin III would be a good idea too but iconic FMAs ed and al is a definite yes.

well FMA is a iconic show without a doubt. maybe shows that captured the hearts of each generation e.g.
theres the
pokemon - generation
dragonball z - generation
FMA - generation
robotech - generation
ect

Ten characters to represent anime? I think I'd probably choose:

* Astro Boy
* Shotaro Kaneda (Akira)
* Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell)
* Rei Ayanami (Evangelion)
* Light Yagami (Death Note)
* Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann)
* Haruhi Suzumiya
* Ichigo Momomiya (Tokyo Mew Mew)
* Totoro
* Japan (Hetalia)

I'd say it is a great show spoilt by the ending.

Why would you say that? Although your answer may depend if we're talking anime or manga.

I've yet to read the manga so this is the anime. My problem with it was that I wanted Light to win. I wanted him to defeat N but instead it was Light who was foiled and eventually killed.

Ah, I see you wanted to have that kind of ending. :twisted: That's fare enough. I'll admit that would have been an awesome ending though I still don't see anything wrong with the good wins over evil ending. Guess it's preference.

I just felt it would have been better. I have to admit the series is something of an achievement in the sense that for many people you end up supporting a serial killer.

Very true. Gotta root for the bad guy sometimes. =P It's because he's crazy brilliant. You can't help but think "Holy crap! ...Nice one!".

Do you think that he qualifies as an "evil genius" or not?

I think he falls under "genius" but he only falls under "evil genius" later on in the series as his original plan was suppose to be for the good of the land (as Tenacious D would say). His heart was in the right place... he just got a bit greedy.

His short temper also led to his demise.

Astro Boy and Totoro are obvious ones which have been mentioned already.

To add to the lists all I've got is:

Rin (Usagi Drop) - Everyone home needs a Rin (b-b-b-baby you just ain't seen nothing yet :lol:)

Hanamichi Sakuragi (Slam Dunk)

(Death Note spoilers)

I quite liked Near, but I also liked Light despite his excessive evilness at times. He was great to watch. The ending(s) didn't bother me; the climax was definitely earlier in the series at That moment but I would have been depressed if the series had ended there.

In a way, if you stop reading at the climax you can have it one way and treat the rest as a 'what if?', and if you continue you can see the rest and enjoy seeing Light gets his just desserts.

Well put Rui! I agree that it definately felt like the series ended earlier than it did, which is why I was satisfied with the ending also. Near was good but I was always going to prefer L, even if he did get outsmarted in the end.

I think that there is an argument to say that Death Note jumped the shark after the death of L, and I am tempted to agree.
