Wall-E

I couldn't see it anywhere ;_; (I did a search too)

I saw it Friday ^___^

See it. It really is the best Pixar ever. Gorgeous animation, character and set design, a fantastic soundtrack, and adorable communication between the robots and just... awesome. One of the quotes in the advert for it from reviews is "Believe the hype!" well... Believe the quote. It's that good.

I posted about it in another topic.

Wall-E - 8/10

Sure it was great but there were some things about it that I felt knocked it down. The first part of the movie was easily the highlight for me, without any dialogue except for the beeps and buzzes of the robots but as soon as the CGI humans started talking I thought 'Is this really needed?'. I felt the movie could have stood on it's own without having any human dialogue at all.

The second thing is the fact that it used both live action actors and CGI cartoon actors. Didn't work for me I'm afraid. I feel like they should have either stuck with live action actors in fat suits or not bothered at all.

The third and final thing would be like Jayme said, the message was handled too heavy handedly. Again this is a problem I have when the dialogue kicks in. Some guy might as well have walked in the cinema and started shouting 'SAVE THE EARTH' in my face. It felt the humans were just there to hit it home so the kids could understand it and what was said was already done more subtely in the first half.

Still it was a great movie with some strong ideas but it could have been so much more. The first part is quite possibly one of the best sections of American animated cinema I've seen though. Genuinely funny whilst keeping with the meloncholy atmosphere.

First section of the movie on Earth 10/10 and then some. After that 6.5/10.

I really want to see Wall-E but I can't seem to convince any of my friends that it's worthwhile. I'll probably just have to wait for the DVD release .... :/

I loved Wall.E. Saw it on Saturday and I'm hoping to go see it again.

While the whole message of the piece was quite heavy handed, I think that if it was dealt with more subtly, the point of the film would just be lost. If we're stripping it back to basics, the environmental issue is why Wall.E exists, and why he meets Eve etc. It drives the plot. If it had just been touched on, well that would've been pretty weak.

I loved the opening of the film though - with the lack of dialogue, the stunning scenery, everything about it was amazing. It's a refreshing thing to have a film which is targeted at children, but is so mature in its approach. Definitely one that children and adults alike can enjoy.

I didn't mind the humans talking, just because they didn't say all that much lol

I didn't mind the real-life human bits along with the CGI because...Im not sure why really, they used it for adverts so it seemed ok to me.

I thought the message was handled ok, but I can understand what you mean about it being "heavy handed", but then its a kids movie so I guess to some extent they felt that they would have to spell it out a fair bit for younger audiences. Plus I also agree that it needed to be driven home quite heavily because it is the key plot.

I loved the soundtrack, and the 8-bit graphics in the credits lol

Go by yourself. I did.

Yes, it was an ok movie, but like Sy said it could have done without the humans.

The children in the cinema were annoying, Asking about motives, Could that have been due to the lack of robot dialog?

Brother-in-Law tells me it's the best Pixar yet (hoping he's not blowing it out of proportion). Going to see it sometime this week with the misses (if i can drag her there). From what I've flicked threw above, it's got a lot of praise. Didn't read posts in detail as scared to find something out I don't want to know.

People on here saying that the key plot was the enviromental story, Personally I thought it was the love story between Wall-E and Eve. It's a shame the movie had to pander to the kids because the commercialism, the dead planet and Wall-E's isolation already addressed during the first few minutes of the film. Kids aren't that stupid, it didn't need to be shoved in your face as much as it was.

I liked it, thought it was funny.

Not really much else to say other than whats been said :p Did think it was very good tho and i think the prescence of the humans added alot to the story.

Depends on the age group watching I suppose? Most of the kids in the theatre when I went were between 3 and 7.

I really enjoyed Wall - E, it's got a great message to children and adults alike with touching characters and a moving and funny storyline, i really did enjoy it. Saying that it's not imo the best Pixar yet, it's great but not the best.

That is the problem I have with it - Its quite good, But its not the best Pixar movie even though none of the movies they have made deserve the title of being the "Best Pixar". I would say Toy Story since its really deserving and has some of the best characters but I don't know if the fact its "vintage" or something changes the fact its good, or the best.

I haven't seen Ratatouille. I heard that was amazing, no?

Ratatouille is possibly the pixar movie I've liked the most. Finding nemo is possibly the prettiest though.
Cars would be my least favourite one.

I enjoyed Cars immensely, I'm not a fan of NASCAR at all but I still found all the characters really quite interesting. It had a lot going on, and it certainly looked gorgeous (especially in HD!). I was never sure why it wasn't as favoured by most people.

The one that gets swept under the carpet and forgotten about, a lot, is A Bugs Life which is also very awesome. Flik and everyone in it were pretty cool. This is probably the one I need to watch again out of all the movies.

I think I plan to get them all on BD.

Robot with bra on its head......Gets my vote :thumb: from that you know he's a pimpbot lol

Yeah looks alright. my sister drives me up the wall.....WA'''AL'''eee, weird child.
