Video Game Wish lists

Not much I'm afraid. Japan doesn't like the PC as a gaming platform as much as we do here, and usually only develops a few genres that never leave the country (by which I mean H-games).

That being said, they do exist. Here's a few off the top of my head, all fairly old (I haven't been keepin up with PC releases much I'm afraid):
Grandia 2 was a port of the Dreamcast RPG, and it a pretty solid-if really short- game. Decent graphics, good sound and voice acting, and it's available pretty cheaply.
Oni was an anime-styled game made by the same lot that did Halo (Rockstar handled the PS2 version, whic is why it's on their site). It's not the greatest game ever, but it is pretty entertaining for what it is. Also available on the cheap.
Shogo: MAD was another western-developed, anime-styled game with giant robots and a great sense of humour. Sadly they decided to release it around the same time as a certain Half-Life and it vanished without a trace. It's a great game a) if you can find it and, b) can find a system it'll run on.

There are also a couple of free games by indie Japanese developers that really need a shout:
Perfect Cherry Blossom: Magical girl curtain fire game. It's easier than it looks, honest.
ABA Games: Staying on the mad arcade shooter theme, ABA has a couple of gems. rRootage and Torus Trooper are recomended, and are among the "purest" games you'll ever play.
Warmning Forever: Last shooter, I swear. This one has your tiny ship facing off agains an endless parade of bosses, each bigger than the last, that adapts to the way you play.
Nanaca Crash: I'm sure this one has done the rounds already, but it deserves andother shot. With characters from the H-game Cross Channel, the aim is to hit some poor sod with a bike and get him as far as possible.

There are others out there, but these are the ones from the top of my head. There are also mods and character models for existing games that give them an anime slant, as well as a growning number of Korean games with a really similar style. Give em a shot, see how you like em.

The only PC games that are actually playable on non japanese PC are:

Ragnarok Online... (Technically that was an Anime related game...)
Air... (There was an english version that I see a time ago in a bookshelf of a store...)
Macross VO...

Various Love Hina and Evangelion Hentai Flash Games...

atm on my Pre order with play.com is
Final Fantasy XII
Zelda : Twilight Princess
Dungeon Siege 2
Pokemon XD
Hello Kitty Roller Rescue
YS VI: The Ark Of Napishtim

and i might add NWN2 at sometime

Is there an NGE game? That would be kinda cool. Oooooh and Gantz!!! That would make an awesome game. My dream list more than wish list really (lol).

Ah, sweet memories.

"Why hello, random mecha. I'll match your Bulldog with my RED RIOT!!!" *Kaboom*

I was at the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival the other day, and got to see and play a load of cool stuff. I did a little write-up on my blog for anyone who's interested, but for everyone else, here's the short version:
  • Nintendogs alone is reason enough to buy a DS
Zelda: Twilight Princess is going to be great
Burnout is EA's newest franchise whore
PSP not on display; Sony can go to hell
New EyeToy game to keep gamers fit
All in all, was a pretty interesting day. Nintendo's was easily the most impressive on display, but there was plenty of other stuff of interest too.

Half-Life 2 Aftermath (hard to look forward to any other shooter, because HL2 made them all look carp. Yes Carp.)

We Love Katamari (OMFG it's coming to Europe!)

erm...

Nah. Nothing else.

My short-term wish list for 2007?

Well, Final Fantasy XII and Okami on the PS2 are, for the first quarter of the new year anyway, the two I'm most looking forward too. God Of War II is there on the outskirts as well. :)

Final Fantasy XII is no.1 on my list at the moment, other than that nothing has really caught my eye, although I am hoping Neverwinter Nights 2 will get an addon pack soon

Many games I want would be for the PS3 but I'll have to wait a while for those

You know, I'm actually really, really looking forward to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - Anniversary.

The first Tomb Raider game released back in 1996 has never been bettered by any of the Tomb Raider sequels / prequels, and the idea of playing it with the Legend enhancements (Legend now being my second favourite Tomb Raider outing) is very exciting. I've seen the trailer which looks great, and I've even heard the re-recorded and remastered Tomb Raider theme (one of the best video game musical themes ever in my opinion) which sounds incredible!

I can't wait to play Palace Midas again but with all the updated bells and whistles.

So yes, this is definetly very, very high on 2007's wish list. :)

Don't you just love it when there are threads already made for a certain topic but instead of looking through past material people think its somehow a good idea to make a new thread though it isn't needed?

How about YES? Threads like this get dated and are best left buried. Why should new contributors have to wade through x amount of posts featuring games that have been released or have even changed their names before their contributions are heard? Thread necrophilia is a far, far worse crime than simply starting a new topic. If it's gone beyond the first page, it's not worth bringing up again.

edit: what exactly did threads several pages into the archive do to you anyway? Kill your family and your best friend?
