If they can't even be bothered translating the box I'm fully expecting another 'bakuman' from the Kaze super release team in terms of subs (have they even said it's sub only yet?).

And is it just me or is that Manga logo getting smaller and smaller, to the point they couldn't even be bothered putting it on the Nisekoi DVD.

It's possible they did the honourable thing and shrunk it a little so that it didn't obscure the artwork like it otherwise would of. Odd that it's missing from the BD. I'm a little surprised to see all these Kaze logos, I was under the impression that while they were still releasing titles they were keeping their logos off of things.
Maybe it was brought back to keep the logo's presence on the shelves of the few stores that stock anime? Or maybe it was Jerome keeping the logo off releases and now that he's gone, the decision has been overturned?

Every time I see it I try to understand what the designer was thinking with that 'Blu-Ray Disc' banner in the middle of nowhere and I'm still drawing a blank. The DVD package design looks so much better with fewer logos and dubious design decisions.

I was kind of holding out hoping that MVM would get something better cover wise for Log Horizon. I suppose I'll pull the trigger on the US sets soon then.

It's a shame people choose to import rather than support the straining uk anime scene because they don't like the covers :(.

it's always the individuals choice but surely you'll hardly ever see the covers anyway except for the spine if you stack your disks normally, unless you always display all your cases front forward. I mean most series/film covers are rubbish in general and I've never seen people opt to import it from another country because their country's cover is better.

I think that because many anime consumers are used to importing (due to both the history of the market and unavailablity of certain titles locally) as a group we're more likely to compare different releases than consumers of more readily available mass market media. If two versions of a product are being offered you pick the one you prefer, why would anyone do otherwise?

We live in a global marketplace, and while it's nice of our industry reps to visit and I think they are largely listening to us and trying to provide products we want to buy, I also feel no particular loyalty to a company just because they're based in the same country I am. But then I'm an internationalist and would happily rip up all borders and abolish all nations tomorrow if I could.

Honestly I don't think there is anything wrong with importing just because of art work used, if you're spending money the you should buy the version you like the most, no point in buying a product you don't like just to support the UK scene, it's the distributors job to put out things people wanna buy at the end of the day and if they ain't doing that we go elsewhere.

With that being said, I thought the US sets used the same artwork anyway. :/

The problem with importing is the potential charges & region restrictions that can be imposed at any time. Region free bluray players are also not widely available yet and those that are, are mostly moded and can't always be left up to date.

I do import (mostly blurays of dvd only uk releases) but I prefer not to and it's less than 1 a month.
I mainly buy anime to watch though and don't care much about physical extras or presentation, only the on disk quality.

I'm just in it for the anime itself and if the majority goes import only it'll start to be too much hassle & too expensive to bother with.

Most of my collection is made up of R1 BDs, so 99% of the time I import for the sake of consistency. UK designs (especially MVM's) are ugly and messy anyway, so I wouldn't even think about it usually.
The only UK company I feel any obligation to is Anime Limited as they're rather pro-active in getting great titles out - sometimes before anyone else, and they put a lot of love and care into what they do.

I think the likelihood of the UK industry going belly-up is far less now than it looked a few years ago.

Also if TTIP passes yet import restrictions for individual consumers remain in force I won't be happy. One of the benefits of the EU is being able to import as much from other EU countries as we like, I'd expect the same if we enter a free trade deal with the US and Canada.

Hence why i don't understand the Log Horizon cover discussion here, as the US and UK cover are practically the same. So there must another reason  :)

I'm not against people importing, and I can understand why people do, but personally, I don't for a number of reasons,

1) I want to support the UK industry
2) UK titles are often cheaper
3) You can guarantee you won't be hit by import fees by sticking to UK releases
4) You know Region 2 discs will always 100% play on your machine
5) I can stick to what's being covered in UK anime media (websites, magazines etc.)

It's kind of self imposed, I suppose - I like the regime that sticking to UK only releases afforded me - if I opened myself up to international releases too I'd probably go crazy and just try and buy everything, and I already buy too much as it is.

I read Mangaranga's comment as "Oh well, since the UK cover art isn't any better than the US I'll just go with the US as usual" which makes sense in cases where someone could go either way. For me, buying US is actually more convenient as my PS3, PS4 and other players are all region A, so #4 on Lutga's list is reversed :)

There's a lot of truth in the sentiment that sticking to a particular region saves you money by cutting down some of the choice out there. It is very hard to do if you're fond of a genre which isn't popular in that region (the UK is very bad at supporting many genres which work in the US) but if the taste of the distributors generally lines up with yours then it makes life a lot easier!

(In my case I feel somewhat obliged to support these niche genres so waiting for a UK release which may never come could lower US sales and reduce the likelihood of sequels ever being licensed. I like how Anime Limited's model has removed this inherent conflict of interests by making our releases semi-independent like they should be.)

Due to the fact that I watch everything dubbed and don't see it before a physical release, meaning I could quite easily buy a poor show. I'd add to your list that it's easier to sell on UK discs. If no one wants them on here you could use CEX or Music Magpie. eBay is also a choice but better if its from the UK also as more people will buy UK discs.
