UK Dragon Ball or One Piece release

Paradox295

Pokémon Master
So, I was looking around Madman's site, and I noticed their DBZ and One Piece releases
Dragon Ball Z
One Piece
Now, the DBZ releases are the cropped DVNR sets and the One Piece DVDs have the 4kids dub

So, If Manga Entertainment finally got the rights to release Dragon Ball or One Piece in the UK, would they..
Use the Madman PAL masters? (They would lose too much money)
Make their own PAL masters? (Cost them too much money)
Use NTSC masters? (Seems the most logical way of doing things, but, usually they don't use the NTSC masters when releasing DVDs)

So, is this the final nail in the coffin for One Piece or DBZ in the UK?

The general consensus over on Arlong Park is suggesting that the cost of the licenses for both series is really much too vast, at present, to consider a domestic release. The situation's looking a right mess, all told. :(

Manga UK's been giving it a solid shot, mind.

Mmmm...

I can see DBKai coming over with a TV broadcast and then a (possible) DVD release (of, ya know, like the first 3 volumes >.>), although I am not so sure that it would be an anime licensor doing the releasing...

Ah, that's good to know that a French company made PAL masters AND that Madman is going to release the uncut boxsets

I think currently DB kai has a better chance than one piece, DB was popular in the uk so there's more chance of it selling well but I suppose one piece is more of a risk as it might not sell well.

I would like to see them both have a uk release regardless even if it was just the movies.
I would rather have DBZ Kai over here than DBZ since I already have the third Dragon Box

Agreed XD.

We do not need a UK release of Dragonball Z, as the US release is region 2 compatible.
The season sets are, however the Dragon Box and Dragon Ball Z Kai aren't.

Also, if another point that Manga should pick up Dragon Ball Z Kai is that if Dragon Ball Kai lasts 104 episodes, it will only cost Manga $1 million to license the series instead of <$3 million to license all of Dragon Ball Z

Uppa shakes his head; the vegetables have been overcooked.

As a side-note, I've got the most sensational urge to watch the Boo sagas. Can't wait for the Dragon Box releases covering that portion of the series, though I'm oddly tempted by the French release.

Must resist urge to double dip

Nobody reads these titles unless they are bored. Their loss.

I must confess, I too am tempted to double dip. Just have to remind myself that my enjoyment of the show is.......more forgiving than some other fans, and that I do not need these sets in order to enjoy the show any more than I do. As a compulsive shopper an connoisseur of pretty DVD boxsets, however, I want these.

Ah, well that's what I thought, I already had the seasons 3 and 4, and I saw the third Dragon Box on Playtrade for £13, so I immediately bought it for the price.
OH MY GOD the footage looked amazing

 Excellent; not too long to wait!

Provided I don't falter and go for the French release, that is. I've avoided the 'Orange Bricks'--so I'm close to making the Dragon Boxes a worthwhile investment...but the French boxes are looking quite smart, indeed.

Well, on the topic of One Piece, I have made a petition site to raise awareness of how popular the show is here
http://onepieceuk.co.cc/

Heh, well I signed... along with three other people... Not looking good at the moment :D

Anyway, I would love to see One Piece over here, although the task of buying a 450+ episode series is daunting as hell...

The Dragon Ball animes are among the first I saw and definitely the first I loved, which is why I have already brought all the episodes of DB, Z and GT along with all the movies form the US (and Australia for DB...) Kai doesn't interest me, so although I would love to see DB get a release over here, I wouldn't actually be among those buying it...

We're up to 11 now

But Dragon Ball Z I'm not interested in either, since Madman only has the orange brick masters.

As much as i would love One Piece to get a release over here i don't think its possible.

1. Toei asking to much for it, and MANGA continue to say its to expensive.
2. People like myself who have bought the R1's might not be willing to rebuy the sets again, wait for them to catch up and then buy or may be just want to stick to the R1's to be consistent.

If MANGA did get the series or even the movies i would buy them right away especially blu rays.

Would love One Piece to air on tv.
