This ever happen to anyone?

Me and a friend were in Worlds Apart in Liverpool City Centre and a bunch of Chavs walk in and start calling us gay and saying all sorts of stuff because we were looking at manga before just leaving.

They didn't do anyting serious but i was kinda shocked.

I've never had anything actually say anything to me - I've seen a person similar to your description walking past the anime section of HMV and muttering "chinky ****", which I felt was, well, inappropriate.

it's very inappropriate.

I can't belive they would just do stuff like this.
What if they said it to like an ex-amateur boxer who liked manga?

XD i'd love to see that.

Yes, i've had **** like that said to me by fat, ugly, smelly, chavs & thaey called me a "******* freak!" just for like walking past them in the shop...

I've seen something similar happen. I was in middlesbrough and i was browsing and saw a group of young chavs attempt to start some people (looked like students) who were walking out of forbidden planet, insults were shouted then the Chavs ran off not before throwing an apple that missed completely and hit the window of the Games workshop instead. Thankfully since then nothing else has happened, though they still do the snide comments as they walk past you while in HMV.

I've had various mutterings, especially when I am in Borders sat in the manga section and its usually older people saying I should grow up.

Although sometimes the mutterings are just my girlfriend trying to get me to leave so she can go into Next and buy clothes.... I don't know why I am needed for that either, women huh!?!

I get it all the time from my younger bro. My mum used to think it was occult, but knows better now. Never really get it in hmv, virgin, FP or waterstones though, get people coming up to me saying things like fantastic series

So no, in public i generally get ignored

don't think anything like that has happened to me...unless i can't hear em cause i got music(japanese of all things) blasting in my ears ^^
but instead i have people coming up to me and go "wow another manga fan!!"

I've actually been in a small moment regarding this. A chav (surprise) saw me looking at anime in a Silverscreen shop in my home town and started giving me **** about it. I just ignored him untill he gave me a pathetic kick. I was crouched down at the time so I don't think he realised how big I was. I chased him for two blocks lol. Haven't seen him again since.

 Ha ha! Thats great, I wish chavs got the tables turned on them like that more often. Strangely, I've never taken public abuse in relation to manga or anime. Which is odd as I used to live in Hull, which is basically chav city.
:?

That was the only time it ever happened to me like. That was in a DVD shop too whilst looking at anime. Wouldn't have thought there'd be much call for it in a book store. How many chavs do you see hanging about in book shops. Hah!

This didn't happen to me per say but myself and a group of friends witnessed someone being bullied physically and verbally by a small group of chavs while lining outside a store for a manga / anime event, needless to say people soon started to take notice and they fled as quickly as they came.
Not without mouthing off at a distance of course.

What made it worse was their were a number of children (least ten years and below.) waiting in line that had to listen to their threats & language.
Other than that I've never been a victim of moronic ignorance.

I don't know why I am needed for that either, women huh!?!
Well, they need someone to ask whether their bum looks big in that outfit or not. :D

I've never had any experience of random people in shops muttering and being against it. I get it constantly from most of my friends though, Except for the most part its "Cartoon Porn" which they pretty much know it isn't yet it still amuses them. I deal.

chavs have managed to gain acess to forbidden planet?!quick!to our oversized pape mache cosplay weapons, we must defend our holy ground!
 lol

but seriously, i used to get made fun of all the time by chavs for liking anime and manga but it just stopped after i stood my ground.it really annoys me when i hear about stuff like this
