Because it was done like on purpose. I don't know if its to make her stand out as not human, or homage to generic anime style of characters having larger eyes than a real human.

Overall this film will definitely not make its $200 million budget back.

I quite fancy watching battle Angel I was a big fan of the anime OVA series. If anyone fancies rescuing that it would be super.....

The eyes thing will take some getting used to but remember she not human so it's less of an issue for me.
