The Melancholy of Foriegn Games

Just surfing youtube and I come across the typical and annoying reminder of an anime game that you can't get for UK.

Found the Ikki Tousen: Shining Dragon game, and watched some gaming footage from kit. It was "I want it" straight after the vid, but you know it wont be available anywhere else. And low-and-behold, I was right...
The same can be be said for .hack//G.U. even if the USA doe have it. The UK just cant be arsed pitching in for it.

Why can we never get any games to come our way? Tarriffs/Law/Socially unacceptable? Does it not piss you off?

(I know you can import, but I dont know a damn bit of decent Japanese... The horror!!!) :x

All the time but what can you do.
I know... You could send e-mails to companies, but they wont listen, I bet. I just wanted to express myself to this, and to see what everyone else's experience is.

But why dont they? They all look good. :( Even if it's a small supply or limited time. If anyone dares say licences, I'll put them in a stranglehold. Lol.

For the number of people who'd actually buy something like that, it wouldn't even be worth releasing it. Stores like Tesco and Woolworths don't even bother with most anime games anyway...they're just too specialised.

DBZ always does well , but even stuff like Naruto (which Neo keeps trying to pretend has taken over the West) is either not even stocked or bargain bin filler after a few months by the high street.

Even something like the GITS game would have got a decent chunk of the anime fanbase interested (hardly saw it anywhere, but still...), but Ikki Tousen is pretty much ridiculed by everyone anyway.

It doesn't bother me at all that we don't get most of these crummy anime games. It's not as if we're starved for decent games.

I have one of the gits game for the ps1 it's pretty good for an anime game :D
Though i wouldn't mind playing/reading/watching some of the visual novels.

To be honest, considering the government wanna get stuff t hats not so bad influence on kids, if they got Anime games in, may help instead of like GTA etc. lol

There is a few games i wouldn't mind getting, but the thing is i do have enough to import the console as well as the games so i'm ok.. Also with One Piece: Unlimited Adventure, it is out in the US in the next couple of weeks so if you had the money, you could always just get a US wii with that, i also want the new Fire Emblem but the thing is there is no release for here for some reason and it hacks me off.

It came out on Monday and I've been dying slowly ever since. Its annoying I can't play it. - Second thought - The Expo may have it, they usually have a good number of import games. Actually, I haven't read any more reviews for Unlimited Adventure recently. I'm gonna get to that I think. I still haven't ruled out the fact that it might get a release over here, The 4Kids games did get a one, If not a small release... if I remember correctly hearing.

There aren't many import games I want, I would love to play some of the Haruhi Suzumiya Visual Novel games along with the Lucky Star ones.. Just not as much as the former...b The UK should get Visual Novels - People whom love mindless shooting games would <3 them. Trust. ;p

Oh? Actually! I want the stupidly uncut version of No More Heroes that the US is getting. That game looks so badass.

All it has is red blood, we get black same as Japanese release, nothing major there, incase you'd like a further case of "realism" the Government can cry about.

Hence I added Stupidly Uncut. I'm not really that bothered about it, I'm still getting the game once it comes out and all. Just thought a Kill Bill amount of blood on the Wii could be amusingly inappropriate to play in the living quarters. Just to note: Its not just a different colour the Japanese release and our release. It is some sort of Black Powder thang and there is less off it than there is blud. Ya get me!

I've been trying to get an Anime based mod off the ground for years, there is so much potential for some series to be games over here. A Gundam game in the guise of Battlefield 2? Trigun as a FPS, Patlabor even.

I've seen people try Anime mods before, but I always get the impression they think it would be way cool to have all the characters beat/blow the crap out of one another.

Problem is a lot of people think Anime games are just for fans, but in truth a good engrossing game appeals to everyone regardless.

Still kicking myself over Grandia on Sega Saturn

Fortunately, the number of games I wish were released in my region are very limited. The huge majority of video games based on anime are sub-standard at best, and though there are times when I wish a certain game was released in my region; it's barely any extra effort for me to simply import the titles.

I have to say its a real drag when we don't get games from abroad, I would love to get my hands on copies of Initial D or the Bleach games with english subtitles or fully translated menus and instructions (bleach challenges are impossible so had to download the instructions off the net). I know I can buy these for the PSP and they are region free but sometimes I would love to know what is going on.

Also games like Yakuza which do make it here eventually really get on my nerves as I have to wait so long for them to be translated, but the wait is definately worth it whent he games are well designed and though out.

i got the ace attourney 2 game on my DS from japan and i managed find the button to translate it into english! ^_^
but seriously the wii games that are out in america n japan are ones like people want...whos idea was it to have the Wii in region format..

Yeah that is surprising considering that the DS is region free, but on saying that all of the game boys have been region free hence why a friend a long time ago actually imported the jap versions of Gold and Silver about one-two years before we got them overhere. Have no idea how he played them though, what with the different language and all.
