^ That's a shame, I can only assume they were using earlier materials to dub with or similar and then never had time to update.
Personally, I was never a huge fan of Bebop, Space Dandy or Carol and Tuesday (that one largely because it dragged in places), but I do absolutely adore Terror in Resonance and still hold it as one of my favourite anime (an unpopular opinion, I know). Having watched the first episode of Lazarus now, I think it will ultimately appeal to me similarly thanks to the overarching plot. Provided that it's done well, anyways.
I wouldn't say the first episode is the most gripping as a standalone piece, given it gives you very little to work with outside of the core premise and some flashy action. And given the circumstances surrounding it, I don't blame anyone who has been put off generally, but I'm looking forward to carrying on week to week. Even if I have to wait a few days post-broadcast for the episode to go up on a streaming service in Japan...
Some interesting stuff on the Japanese audio side too. Leading up to the broadcast, Miyano and Yuma Uchida had been talking about how the direction was more akin to live-action or a film, and that certainly does come through in the finished work. it's not your typical anime directing with the sometimes over-acting or at least somewhat unrealistic presentation. And I mean I love Miyano a great deal, but he sure does aim high when it comes to exaggeration and comical range (which usually suits his characters anyway) so it's nice to hear something a bit more natural and different here. Not sure how the dub compares on that front, but I hope they've gone for a similar atmosphere there.
I am still miffed about having to jump through so many hoops to watch it with my preferred audio, but hopefully, that effort continues to be rewarded over time.
