The General Conversation Area

I feel a bit bad having compared my brother to the likes of Tony Robbins and the person who wrote The Secret. He's not quite like that lot and not deliberately exploitative as I believe they are, his world view just falls somewhat in line with (and has probably in part been shaped by) those peoples'.

Those writers always tell us to think bigger and bigger, and throw in the disclaimer: have gratitude for what you do have, but think bigger and bigger there's no limit to your success, never settle for less than EVERYTHING. And if you're not successful, if something beleaguers you, that's your fault because of your bad energy and you should have thought more positively. I think the positivism of our time is actually one of its biggest drawbacks, man, take me back to Heian Japan when sorrow was the in thing and they had no time for pretend happiness. One of my favourite books is Kagero Nikki, which is basically the antithesis of those 'positive' self help books I've mentioned, and yet, writing the book was clearly a form of therapy for the author and helped her find some peace. It's an impressively frank and yet extremely beautiful work.

'Sup dudes :) Ah, you checked out the wrapping clip. I need to ship all my gifts to Japan in future, I suck at wrapping. The Great Christmas Wrapping Fiasco of 2016 - I remember it well: couldn't see my bedroom floor for paper, gifts, pre-cut tape strips plastered on any available surface...Oh man XD

Anyway, how is everyone today? :)

Don’t mention that time to me! There were way too many presents last year!

I’m feeling bad today. Everything’s getting to me, you?

Haha, why do we do it to ourselves? XD

Aw man, I'm sorry to hear. I don't expect you to divulge on a public forum but if it's any consolation, I do get it. I'm not at my best right now; haven't been for a while, and it saps the energy out of you when you try to keep things together. I hope you feel better soon dude.

As for me, I'm not too bad. Currently convalescing from having relatives over (from my Dad's side) - they're not bad people, just very...difficult to deal with at times!

By contrast, I'm good, thanks, Aya. :)
How's you?

Any word from the interview yet?

Hey dude, what's up? :)

Nah, nothing as yet, they're dragging their heels a bit but, there's not alot I can do. I emailed the agent last Friday to find out if she'd heard anything. She said she hadn't but she'd be in touch as soon as she has, so, it's just a waiting game now. It doesn't have get frustrating though; I just want to know either way at this point!

People are people, they’re all draining! :p

Haha, I get that, I really do. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love making friends and meeting new people, but as an introvert, I always know when I've expended my social energy. I used to have friends that would text me on a Saturday asking if I wanted to go out. I'd think, "Heck no! I've been in work, you haven't. You've had time to chill, and get yourself mentally prepared, all I want is to go home and stay there!" XD

*clicks geek together thrice* there’s no place like home.
