The General Conversation Area

So last night in work, I’d closed up my area and headed to the main bar. I work as a barman/catering assistant in a theatre and we’re all deployed on different areas when there’s a show on. The idea is that when we close up our own areas we go to the main bar to help out there for the last hour or so of our shift.

The show in the main theatre was in it’s second half so it was extremely quiet where we were, most of us were just stood about chatting.

First thing I noticed though was the girls were stood together having their own conversation where as the guys were stood away from them having theirs.

I walk past the girls and towards the lads and ask “what’s with the male-female divide?”

To which one of the lads replies “because they’re talking about toys”

My reaction was a simple “oh”
I don’t get dividing off because of that. Are lads generally uncomfortable talking about toys? Are they excluded? I’m confused. Personally I’ve never had an issue talking about toys. I find it interesting to see what different peoples reactions are to the same toy.

somehow, great leader I'm suspecitn' one of us 'as the wron' idea when we're readin' the word "toy" I'm sorry, I can only bring up the thought of one kind of "toy" when it comes to adult girls and ir ain' a barbie

So... not for a decade. Come buy windows, we haven’t worked properly for a decade but we won’t tell you that!
oh ye and durin' tha' decade they've gotten rid of 'undreds of features they use to give you for free.
I could still be usin' movie maker for s***posts or summort, bur on windows 10 i's nor 'ere

ye bur the divide would be, well, both of those aren't the same things are they? blokes stuff is seen as more gross and desperate, while I can only imagine all women own at least 3. it's also thought tha' a bloke won need one like
Umm... certain men’s toys like sleeves can have a vibe in too. Ultimately though what I was getting it is a don’t get the need for a divide like what was described.

because the're different! what, you think guys are gonna start talkin' about d*ldos serious as, and the girls are gonna talk about sleeves as if they are of any use? and quite frankly, a guy who isn' gay talkin' about a d*ldo, whar is he doin' like, and quite frankly, why?

I do ger there's some things they could talk abou' though. there is also the question of girlfriends and boyfriends, people aren't comfy with tellin' the opposite sex whar they enjoy if they ain't courtin'

Did you know there's these parties where women get together and play with/ talk about Sex Toys, I've never heard of a male equivalent which is a shame because I would love to get together with a bunch of guys and Jerk off in a circle while discussing the advancements of Sex Robots

I remember a bit from Phoenix Nights where that happened actually.

When I was a teen living in France I used to have a best friend who was from the USA, and on the weekend me, him and another friend used to sit in his room jerking off while watching porn on his ps3, it's actually a really good male bonding experience and its a shame a lot or bros don't get to experience it.

Don’t go tarring everyone with the same brush. I’m pretty open when it comes to sexual things. As is my OH come to that. We’ve both had chats with others (with and without either of us being present) I don’t see the issue.

Are you being serious or trolling? I once had a friend do that whilst I was staying the night. It was utterly disturbing.
