THE DISAPPEARANCE OF NAGATO YUKI-CHAN<em>&nbsp;Anime Adaptation in the Works</em>
HARUHI-CHAN<em>&nbsp;&&nbsp;</em>CHURUYA-SAN<em>&nbsp;are also being distributed!</em>

This not-so cryptic message is what users are presented with when they go through a rather cryptic method - by going onto haruhi.tv, not being fooled by the fake error page and clicking on the hidden link using an Android device.&nbsp;

Puyo's&nbsp;<em>The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan</em>&nbsp;is a manga spun-off from Nagaru Tanigawa's&nbsp;hugely successful&nbsp;<em>Haruhi Suzumiya</em>&nbsp;light novel series, which has previously been animated as 2 TV series', 1 movie and 2 original web animation series'. This spin-off in particular focuses on the character Yuki Nagato and is set in the alternate universe seen in&nbsp;<em>The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.&nbsp;</em>The manga is currently being published in English by Yen Press.

Information about the new project is still scarce, such as when (and how) it will air and which studio is animating it, although Kyoto Animation are a likely guess due to their work on all previous animated incarnations of the franchise.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

If this isn't a precursor to more of the novels being adapted, I'll be extremely frustrated.

I've no great love for the Disappearance of Yuki spin-off, so not sure I'll be watching it.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

All I have to say about this is YES.
Would have preferred Haruhi s3, but I'll take what I can get at this point.

Wasn't the "Disappearance of Haruhi" movie basically the same thing?

the did the endless 8 saga...... wouldn't put it past them to basicly re-release the movie with small changes :D

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

Honestly, after Beyond the Boundry sort of sputting into last this season I wouldn't put it past them.

KyoAni's fallen a long way since the glory days of Second Raid.

Ahh! Second Raid. Will we ever see that upon our shore then? My money still lament's its absence.

My Local CEX surprised me by having a copy of 2nd Raid on it's shelves, quite clearly a bootleg version lacking any kind of BBFC logo too

Unless it's an import. I know a games shop in Sheffield that sells 2nd hand anime and there was a S.A.V.E. title among them.

This wasn't a Funimation or ADV version, which I'd be quite happy to see, It looked very much like the kind of thing you'd buy off ebay cheap from some far east importer

That surprises me as CEX normally refuse to deal with anything imported without proper BBFC logo or a bar-code on.

Must have slipped through their checking net, probably had some sort of fake bar-code on the reverse which allowed it to be scanned into the system (would be interesting to have a look at the price label to see what title is printed on it).

It's a slight annoyance when trying to sell R1 DVDs which are a bit pants.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

I'm genuinely super excited about this - new Haruhi in any shape or form can only ever be a good thing.

Although how moe-ahoy do the new visuals look?

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

To be fair, that visual is very faithful to the art of the Disappearance of Nagato manga.

I just hope the animated visuals end up looking better than the K-ONified art of Haruhi S2.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

Are people looking forward to this much? Do we reckon it'll ignite Haruhi-fever all over again - or are people 'so over that'?

I'm still going through the Haruhi novels at the moment and I have to admit, it's the series I keep coming back to again and again. The whole concept of it just fascinates me - perhaps the characters more than the plot itself.

I feel like a lot of the show's strength relies on the fact that everyone knew a Haruhi-type person at school, and her character in the show then essentially becomes an extrapolation of your own experiences.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

I'm just looking forward to seeing some form of the Haruhi universe being adapted. As I said when this was first announced, I hope that enough interest is raised for there to be another season. There's still some really good material from the books that hasn't been touched.

I reckon you could get the main stuff adapted with 11-13 episodes.

2 for Snowy Mountain syndrome.
1 for Melancholy of Mikuru Asahina
3 for Intrigues.
5 (or possibly 6) for Disassociation and Surprise.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

Yeah I feel the same, it's nice to have some kind of Haruhi stuff animated. Though as much as I liked alternate Yuki in Disappearance, I'm not greatly excited about this. If it does somehow kickstart more Haruhi anime, that'd be cool with me.

I took the opportunity to read the novels quite recently, I'd particularly like to see Dissociation and Surprise in anime form some day.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

Another new visual from the show - Haruhi looks pretty different!

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

Oh wow haruhi... (they just need to make season 3, I don't care who animates it just use the same art style!!!) I don't mind too much I guess, change is good sometimes. This is only a spin off though.

Re: The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan receiving anime ad

The more and more I see of this, the more moe it looks:

i....i can't get excited. I'm skipping this one. I want to be on the "more haruhi stuff is always welcome" boat, but i just want more of the actual core novel content animated, not more of the spin-off retelling stuff. I don't really like the animation style for it either, honestly.

Just give me an animated adaptation of snowy mountain syndrome, intrigues and the melancholy of mikuru asahina. What's more, it'd be a nice change of pace having a series more dedicated to mikuru, as she's not had as much of the screentime as yuki or haruhi.
