The Decline of Offline Gaming (mini-rant, be warned)

That's because anything made to be good online never has a good story, or just isn't a good game at all.

I like... never play online. I have done a few times with LBP but mostly, no, never touched the online aspects of me games.

Take me and Counter strike:source as an example. I played on the public servers for about 2 years before i went into leagues/tourney's/lans and i did pretty well (getting into ESL and other leagues) all because i practiced against the hard opponent's, watched there playstyle and how they reacted to different situations. I don't play CSS anymore but it was one the the most fun gaming experiences i've had.

Not everyone needs to seek to justify to themselves their own enjoyment of a game by pushing themselves beyond obsession to better their abilities, to become really good at something in order to convince themselves that the endless hours playing the game actually achieved something worthwhile in life. A lot of people are just happy to play the game at the same skill level, remaining in their comfort zone, and simply having fun. Games are still played for fun aren't they?


I will also second Godot's appreciation of FF13. ^_^
