There have been a few British dubs in the past. Admittedly I haven't seen them all, though the number is so small, it's not exactly an impossibility.
Just wondering if anything would change in your purchasing patterns if British dubs were as prevalent as US. Hence the poll.
If I'm honest, I watch mainly subs, but given the choice between a British and American dub on that anime disc, I wouldn't import even if it was a bit cheaper.
I left out the option:
'Decide on the merits of each individual dub regardless of accent', because usually, we don't have that liberty before we purchase.
Hopefully I haven't left out any other likelihoods.
Clarification:
This poll asks you to assume that British dubbing is to some extent well established, and the quality of it's dubs are good, and are up to the same standard with American. In some ways, you must consider the quality of both is equal, and then try to imagine if the option of British dubs would tempt you or not, and to decide how much they would tempt you. It's a difficult thing to ask, as it is hard to imagine a well established tradition of British dubs, So essentially rather than asking you to imagine the overall quality of british or American dub, I suppose you must decide based entirely on how you would respond to the different accents, american or british in anime. (or not at all if you pick option 1 3 and 6)
This poll does give detailed options for expensive British dubs, because it's designed to see if they would tempt you above US dubs. So to make it clear:
If you wouldn't purchase items by considering dubs at all because you're into subtitles, you pick 1
If you do care about dubs, but wouldn't develop a preference for British or American, or say, you do prefer british but you simply prefer to preserve your money you pick 3
If you would choose what to purchase based on extra features, and not on dub or price, then pick 6
If you would prefer British dubs, regardless of the fact that they are more expensive, you pick 4 or 5 accordingly.
If however you like US dubs the best, and would buy them regardless of whether they're cheaper or more expensive than British, then you pick 2 Remember, you only pick option 2, if you can see yourself deliberately buying DVDs because they have a US dub. You musn't assume the US dub would be cheaper.
Also
Consider the following:
If you wouldn't buy more expensive British dubs, you pick either 1 2 3 or 6 as your reason, if you would, you pick 4 or 5 or 6
If the option existed like: 'would you buy cheaper British dubs?' and someone voted that way, I wouldn't know if it was because they prefer cheaper anime, or because they don't have a preference for dubs, or because it had better extras etc. If you wouldn't buy a cheaper british dub, you can always select option 2 or 6, which can tell me about how popular british dubs would be compared with American, or how popular extras are when purchasing anime. Buying the local dub because its cheaper merely indicates that you're in option 3 or 1 or 6
