Just wondered what everyone's prefered system is, mainly as i am a PC player, and everyone keeps taking about games I've never played. Mainly a PC player as generally the kinda games I like are PC ones (sandbox RPG's, strategy, empire building etc) also games often be extended by mods.
PS- Retro system means one of the older ones like PSone, N64, etc
 
i couldn't really say actually..though i am a nintendo fan, i don't just focus on it. i focus on all consoles really..since we have most of them(bar a couple), though i am more so a console gamer to a PC gamer, i go on the megadrive every so often, 360 PS2, Wii..the lot, depending on how i feel or what games i am working on
 
At the moment, I am using my PS2 as I am on FFXII also I love playing racing games so that goes on the PS2.

But for RTS and 1st person shooters I have to choose the PC, I built it specially for gaming and love running games like Counter Strike on it.
 
this is a hard choice.....
like Arbalest mentioned, it really depends on the mood of the gamer and the consoles he/she owns.
and the fact that quality titles are released on almost all platforms, its a hard choice to make...
 
My brother is big into games so he has a Nintendo Wii, PS2, Gamecube and everything - which is ace because it means I don't have to buy them and can just play his, LOL. The only systems I own are a GBA SP and a Nintendo DS Lite, which I love, so it gets my vote!

Exactly. For me, if i feel in the mood for online play, its the 360 or the PC, or i want to go on games such as Okami, FFXII, etc, its onto the PS2. Its all dependant on how i feel at the time. The only thing i find a tad difficult is due to the fact i own loads of consoles, so if i wanted to play an RPG, i have the likes of the PS2, GCN, 360, norm xbox, DS and so on to choose from so it can take a while.
 
The 360 because the controller in my view is awsome. I'd pick any controller over the PC's mouse, although the mouse is far greater for RTS and things like that, and FPS. But the controllers are just easier to use and more fun. The old xbox controller was too big, the old xbox second controller was ugly. The PS2 is nice, but I guess because I don't use it a lot I grew off it and now it feels odd, doesn't "fill your hand" like the 360 controller does. The Wii controller is cool, but when it comes down to hardcore shooters or anything similar its going to fail, still its good and I like it. Gamecube controller was nice, but just an odd layout. Anit tried the PS3 controller yet, hopefully will this friday (bring back dualshock!). The DS gives me cramps, the PSP feels horrible to hold and I hate retro sticks and buttons.

I agree I want the Dualshock back, I love that feature (if only they had sorted the rights to it out earlier)

I find the PSP easy to hold and love taking it with me when I travel as I can watch ripped moveis/anime on it, but if I play games on it too long I get really bad hand cramp and my elbows seem to seize up.

I will never buy an Xbox, microsoft control too much of the PC market as it is and I refuse to hand them any more of my cash. So I will always be a Sony fan.
 
My favourite console si by far the PS2. It'd Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, God of War, Star Ocean, Metal Gear Solid and many other great, great titles.
 
I will have to say the xbox 360 is my favorite. Mainly because of the online gameing and I cant say the Ps3 because well it hasnt been released yet and I dont have one. I love the pads for the 360 I find that there easy to use and controle. The online gameing is great where you can talk with your freinds and splatter there brains out all over. I love the fact that you can change the appearance of the console aswell. One problem though with the 360 is some people do have trouble getting on to xbox live.

The Ps2 was great in its day but now the graphics and gameplay just dont appeal to me. Sure they have just brought out final fantasy XII but that still didnt appeal to me. I think they should of just brought it out on the Ps3 then people would of had more to look forward to with the Ps3.

As for gamecube I had it for a week and sold it. I hated the shape of it the controllers the games. Pretty much everything about it.

Now for the psp. The PsP was a great hit when it came out but there are still a few problems that they still havent sorted out. When you play the psp and your hands get clamy and sweaty it tends to slip off the controls(has happened to me a few times). Also there is the fact that the screen can easily be damaged and that if you drop it even once it could break. I know they have brought out screen protectors and things to help. But the fact is not many people get them.
 
PC definitely. I have to have a PC, so why not make it a good one? I usually make sure I have a secondary console, a handheld for all other purposes. That's still my Gameboy Advance though, haven't got round to getting a DS (The law of Sod dictates that I will get a DS this year... and Nintendo will announce the next Gameboy at TGS or E3, or whichever tradeshow comes immediately after my purchase.)
 
PS2 till friday, Wii has yet to bring out the big guns and PS2 has had the FF series and MGS, Xbox has Halo but I think thats just overrated, I wouldnt mind Gears of War coming to PS3 though :p.

God bless the FF series, I hope it stays true to PS consoles and doesn't wander over to the Microsoft side of the force or I would be lost, the same goes for MGS
 
Just noticed I rambled on about controllers rather than system...
But I still back the Xbox 360 all the way, my PS2 broke down a lot back in the day (still does :( ) and I began to worry. Then I got an xbox and it worked perfectly, MS got my respect from that. After playing xbox live for so many years I was a xbox fan boy because nothing ever broke, unlike my ps2. Thats why I got the 360 (doesn't break but can't say that for others) and I still hold a lot of respect for both the boxes.
Plus Gears of War is awsome :D , still anit got over how good it is yet
 
I'm going to have to say PC, although I can happily sit in front of anything as long as the game's decent enough. As a backup is the DS, keeping me sane on the train.

I'm holding off on the next gen for now though, because (a) I'm cheap, and (b) there're still not enough killer apps to warrant a purchase just yet. Will probably eventually go down the 360/Wii route though.
