Feasts (i'll probably watch this)

Ip Man (Not japanese but looks interesting)

As he struggles to support his family, he witnesses brutal fighting tournaments organised by the occupying military, and makes an impression by defeating 10 opponents at once. His accomplishments lead to conflict with a Japanese colonel, who wants him to train his men. Fact-based drama, starring Donnie Yen and Simon Yam. In Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese
Film4 9:00pm Thu 30 Jun

Currently watching Akria now, I expected it to be dubbed, the newer dub is alright, but I think it lacks the charm the old dub had

Subbed is next week.
You like the terrible very, very lose dub?

I watched the "new" dub yesterday and the script wasn't radically different from how I remember the old one. Most lines, in fact, were practically the same.

The old dub had more character, like a lot of the Streamline dubs (though it's not technically Streamline) but the Pioneer/Animaze one is fine.

I was wondering why Paradox said the date he did,

The characters come off perfectly in the old dub, Kaneda and his gang actually sound like thugs for example, but that's just me, it's like comparing DeJap's translation of Tales of Phantasia to the official one, I just have a preference

Yeah, I was the one who first discovered it was airing in the first place. I came across it in Digiguide and posted asap. Didn't realise until later that it was airing 3 times.

Friday's airing is Subbed, they said before it started earlier.

It's also airing again sometime at the end of July. Forgot when exactly.

I just finished watching AKIRA on syfy and my mind has thoroughly been F*CKED!! (in a good way) My mind is still trying to process what the hell happened. On another note, the animation was amazing :D still cant believe i avoided this movie for as long as i've known about it (5 years).

My sentiments exactly. :D

And, now, the fun part...

...ratings!

I still think it's one of the best Anime movies out there, you can tell that the folks behind it put a lot of effort into the Animation, so much it kind of puts some newer movies out there to shame

376,000 tuned into see the Syfy channel premiere of anime classic Akira. It's got to be around there, but even if it was in the millions, does it matter? ... What are your reference points/what will a high number accomplish besides reruns?

Honest q's.

To quote my little sister (who is 13) ".................... i dont get why that was a 15, it didnt bother me and all the kiddies would just love that. i want that bike".

What ratings are that? Tonights airing or when it originally aired?

Also, I got this email:
Thanks for getting in touch.

At the moment Akira is a one off event although we are always reconsidering our programming oprions so if it is well received me may look at more similar content in the future.

Kind regards

Knowing Manga, and I like to think I do, that is just crap. I also just made the rating up. I'm guessing around that mark, but I have no idea how well it was advertised so it'll probably be far lower. Unsure how cynical I am towards the Syfy email yet, though! :p
