Spam Topics

It's either intelligent bots or actual humans posting. Either way, we've limited it from 5 to 6 a day to around 5 or 6 a week and I'm happy with that :)
 
Nice this is becoming annoying, I'm going to be working on a new system tomorrow that I hope will eventually be able to delete the majority of these bots a few hours after they register; hence cutting them off from posting their crap before having their e-mail addresses validated.

I swear, SPAM bots are the worse thing about running an interactive website. They are just everywhere!
 
The spamming that went on in the review comments section is well and truly solved now thankfully - I know people who are just passing through can't add anything but what's added now is more constructive and ties in neatly with the forum topics. Definitely worth the effort that Paul put into it.

Tell me about it. :roll: If I find the git who's responsible for 'funny ringtones' (the spammer who posts on my blog comments on a daily basis)...grr.

Obviously I'm going to put the article comments through the forum too, so that's why I've let them slide on the articles for a while but jeez, it's an absolute plague of the internet. I can deal with the emails, but this is too much.

BTW, if you want to know a good way of stopping them on your blog - jjust refuse comments with more than one 'http'. That kills the vast majority.

:shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: wow, looks like you need a sign up method on for the comments on the site. By the way, how come this forum and site gets hit by spam, whereas other forums I visit get none.
