I have a feeling that the guy may not even have an opinion on anime of any description - as far as I can tell it's just someone whipping up a bit of dorama to increase their site traffic, and sitting back in the delusion that it's in some way smart or original. The "insult *insert social group here* to get attention" stunt is an old joke that is as old as the Internet itself; it isn't, and never was, funny or clever.

When a site has to resort to tactics like this there's obviously something seriously wrong with the quality of its content. I certainly won't be visiting there again.
 
The only way to engage the guy in dialogue would be to tackle him on that forum, but honestly, we may as well just let it die and not give him the satisfaction of responding. As he can't even spell properly, it's unreasonable to expect him to react in a logical fashion. That he went out of his way to rule out Miyazaki is as good a sign as any that we're looking at someone with profoundly bad taste and isn't worth the time of day. I guess I just like reading these things once in a while, reminds me why I'm an anime fan.
 
Of course, I disagree. Anime fans don't get defensive when the medium is attacked because we're 'ashamed' of our hobby, we get defensive because we don't like people misrepresenting what we like. That's what every fanbase does when the object of their celebration is attacked. D'uh!

This guy is an idiot. As been said before he is a troll and only really out for a 'WTF TeH NooB is DissIN TEH AnimE!'I'm surprised he didn't start on cosplayers as well.

Obviously he's some fat loser with milk bottle glasses and at a lot of issues with himself and the world. Of course it doesn't help that he's American.

Get over yourselves and take it for what it is - a series of opinion columns designed to be ignorant and rile people up...and the writer's done a great job, considering how many people he's got crying into their Pocky.

I find it funny the comment he-man and fruit basket... just shows how much he's right, isn't it? Taking Pokemon and DBZ, two TV series and compare it to movie stuff is unfair. A movie takes years in production before screening. A TV series does not have this much time.

I believe that possibly the defensive bit can be simply ignored.... Whoever attacks anime and its fans is attacking my right to have an opinion. While he is entitled to an opinion himself, but I'm entitled to respect and every other anime fan out there are as well.

Well, the most annoying thing about fanboys from any fandom is how they can't become annoyingly is when they start getting irrational. Apple fans are the onws that annoys me the most (I've iboks, macbooks, ipods and iphones, but I can't take those fans that keep telling how anything out of Jobs b*** is great....

as for the comment about critisizm on chavs.....that thread was made purely to understand peoples views on a stereotypical type of person. all were, still are and will remain opinions.
 
Loved the social outcast comment, pit just made me picture him in some small room in his parents house aged in his 30's still bitter because someone once insulted his choice of tv and now feels the need to bash anything out there he probably once liked. Well I hope one day he finds the courage to leave the safety of his mums house and venture out to meet people, maybe someone should email him the match.com website link

Agreed, i really hate the trend thats taken hold recently where someone posts complete bull and then we go through the whole process of a mix of coherent and incoherent replies telling him/her exactly where to stick it. Up to that point im a big fan - its the internet's version of "the great circle of life" or whatver.

But now we have a second wave of people who then in a warped sense of way defend the original poster in favour of free speech or attack the guys n girls who get so riled up over the post they begin making threats.

Headline news guys - we're not robots! We cant all be grey blobs day each and every day of our lives. Theres respecting other people's opinion, but theres got to be a line drawn somewhere.
Some people can keep their heads on but others cant, dont bash them just because (may the lord have mercy on them) they feel passionate about something enough to defend it.

But they're the people who are indirectly responsible for this article. It was written to tick off anime fans. If anime fans weren't so easily ticked off, it wouldn't have been written.

Bottom line: if anime fans don't want articles like this to be written, then they should stop being such an easy target for ridicule.
 
I'll be blogging the issue of elitism and annoying fans later this week but while that's still in its draft stage I'll just agree with fabricatedlunatic.

Is this still raging then? When I said the site was garbage and not worth my visiting, I meant it!
