Simulwatch again?

Fair does. Fabric's comment does make me a little dubious, but personally, I'd just as soon stick with Real Drive this time round (no reason we can't do Ghost Hound some other time).

How does everyone feel about the viewing schedule? We had one episode per day last time round, which seems fair enough to me, but we could do weekdays only or alternate days maybe if anyone has a particular preference.

I would be cool with one ep a day, there will be days where I can't watch any balanced out by ones where I can catch up though.

Strangely enough though masculine woman don't bother me at all, its only hetrosexual males who imbrace femininity that send me into a rage.
I'm a straight guy and I think kittehs are adorable :3

Rageworthy enough?

No not quite, I too find kittens adorable :)

As for this simulwatch, I would be up for it and either show sounds pretty interesting to me, however I don't know how I would get hold of either series I wasn't even aware they were out in the UK.

Neither of the two shows has had a UK release I'm afraid. Ghost Hound had an R1 release on DVD and I think there was a Blu-ray in the US as well, but for Real Drive, it would need to be fansubs.

Is there a reason it must be Shirow? This is just a suggestion, and one I don't expect to be given undue consideration because I dropped out of the GitS simuwatch early, but wouldn't something like Lain, Haibane Renmei, or Paranoia Agent be more suitable?

For one, they've all been (or were) available in the UK for a good while and I'd imagine more people own the DVDs. For two, all are 13-episode series and therefore it's less likely that viewers will fall by the wayside. For three, it's an opportunity for people smarter than me to explain wtf is going at certain points (or in the case of Lain, every minute of every episode).

I'd be totally up for a re-watch of Haibane or Lain. Both are really interesting from the point of people's different interpretations of the more vague aspects of the series'.

Not that this is a concerted effort to drive the thread in a particular direction or anything... I'd be up for watching Real Drive if I hadn't had my bandwidth restricted for exceeding my download limit this month.

I suggest Jyu Oh Sei

Pound to a penny, not many of you bothered to pick it up, its cheap to get hold of (about £6-£7) and i enjoyed it. Truly a gem to watch and decent story, as i'm betting on that not many have watched it you'll all be watching through the first run of it and be able to give your own personal input without knowing whats ahead (personally thats why i felt that GITS fell short, as i'd already watched it it was nothing new to talk about. whereas this would be new and give plenty to talk about)

Just my 2 pence anyway.

I suppose we're not married to a Shirow series or anything - I suggested those two as they came up in the previous thread and people were already showing interest in doing one or the other of them. I'm also wary of picking something else now in case it alienates anyone who was already up for watching Real Drive.

Personally, I'd like to go for something slightly obscure on the grounds of getting people to watch a show they might not have done otherwise, but I can understand the difficulty of acquiring shows that aren't widely available as well. I'll need to go away for a couple of days this week in any case, so I'm quite happy to leave it open to debate for a little longer.

I would have suggested taking a poll at the end, but I think the logistics of that could be awkward. I know we don't have that many people, but as it's the middle of summer, I get the impression that everyone who would be interested at this point in time has already posted in this thread. So if anyone has any other suggestions, can you please make them before the end of the day and then we can sort out what's the most popular.

I'm starting to think this was entirely the wrong time of year to attempt one of these - there's actual sunshine outside...

I should be back on thursday night, so if more than four people are behind one show by then, we can go with that. I have complete faith in everyone here not to choose something terrible. Otherwise, I say we stick with Real Drive this time round and we can put it to a poll next time.

I'm up for either show; but just sayin' I was the only one who was pretty much consistently up to date (excluding the 4 days I was away during the Second GiG) in the last one - so if someone else [Irony] is heading this one, you probably wanna make sure ahead of time that you'll actually be able to make the daily episodes. At one point I was the only one posting for about 3 days to keep the simul-watch alive.

RD or Ghost Hound for me though is fine ^.^ I have enough spare time I'll definately stick up to date ^.^

I've never been that active here but I'm looking for a good excuse to get back into relaxing and watching anime again, and this feels like a good idea, so count me in.

I'm happy to go along with any series so put me as a plus one for all suggestions I guess!

Yeah, must admit I never really gave much thought to who'd be heading this one, but I'm pretty sure I can give it my full attention this time round.

Shall we go for Real Drive, starting saturday?

Apologies to those who wanted something else or otherwise can't get hold of the show, but I'd rather not drag things out any longer. Next time, we can poll it.

I'm thinking we just stick to the same setup as before; everyone tries to get the relevant episode watched during that day, no untagged spoilers for the day's episode before midnight.

But how is everyone getting hold of the show though? or where are people watching it?

The show actually sounds sort of interesting.

Prof, make a dedicated thread for the RD simul-watch tonight or early tommorow. It's better than keeping the discussion in here with all the like... yeah, discussion. We could keep this thread moving for discussion of the next one, or something.

Lain and Haibane Renmei would be excellent ones to consider for the next/a future one. Lain I would be particularly interested in as it would push me to import the BD set. Paranoia Agent I feel like people are more likely to have rewatched more recently than a lot of other shows in the wake of Kon's death - I know I personally did when VivisQueen linked to a blog that was doing a rewatch of it.

Many moons ago, in the GitS simulwatch thread, I threatened to do a sort of anime watching v-log series for youtube, the idea being to watch a series in several episode chunks and then have a videoed roundtable discussion at regular intervals.

It's taken a while to get round to it, but my video making colleagues agreed this was a good idea (the fools!) and we've got the first episode in the can.

We're watching through Cowboy Bebop to begin with (although hoping to do something more eclectic down the line) and if anyone would like to follow along and comment with their thoughts/feelings/heckles along the way, you'd be more than welcome. We'll do our best to respond to viewer feedback in the subsquent episode.

So, episode one of Secret V-log X will cover Cowboy Bebop eps 1-3 and should hopefully be up on yt by friday night. I'll post a link as soon as it's ready.
