If you think that MVM should release any of its back catalog in BD, say so here. Also, mention the title that you have in mind.

I'm forwarding this topic to MVM and I'm suggesting them to do it in the form of a crow funding project using either Indiegogo or Kickstarter when it comes to the UK.

In my own experience, I managed to raise some funding for one of my projects and I've also contributed to Digital Manga and I this system seems to work wonders.

So basically, if they start a campaign like this people have to put the money where their mouths are rather than just complain about the lack of BD in internet forums. In their fixed funding models, whoever commits to contribute is only charged if the project goes ahead and this way MVM would have a clear picture even before signing the contract to produce the discs.

Before someone even asks: I'm not putting Manga and Kaze in the mix, because they are part of bigger companies, and the decision on such a project may not even be left to someone who actually runs Manga or Kaze operations. But if this test becomes successful, I'll tell them in person.

Their full catalog can be seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MVM_Films
Bear in mind that some licenses migth have expired already.

I can sum up what I want to see from MVM on BD in two words: Bubblegum Crisis. There's already a Japanese BD version, and I would pay good money for a release with English subs.

Other than that, Lain I'm importing (and Moribito and Witchblade I already imported) so from my POV it's too late for those. The Urusei Yatsura films? Haibane Renmei? I'd certainly be on board for those. Ergo Proxy and Texhnolyze I would probably upgrade too. Paranoia Agent if it isn't cut. I don't know what the source material is like for the first three series' of Slayers, but the US DVDs aren't great, so that's another possible.

At the very least, I can't stress enough to UK distributors that if they want my money, new releases should be on BD from now on. If they're not UK buyers can (and will) import them on BD from the US and Australia.

As I understand it, the reason for the slow uptake of things like Kickstarter in the anime industry is because they would struggle to arrange a situation where they have an exclusive option on a title but haven't already licensed it (this applies even here because BD rights would need negotiating separately). Therefore any efforts would be sort of cheating as they'd already have put the money down, unless it's a Japanese company which already has the rights under their belt.

However, if that can be overcome, for example in cases where we know the BD rights were picked up but something went wrong (like with Manga's Haruhi movie problem), I'm up for pretty much anything which hasn't got a competing translated product already available on the global market. The upcoming Kids On The Slope would be a nice one to know is getting a BD here, and BGC is a good call too as my DVDs look pretty terrible. Ordinarily I'd vote for Moribito but the existence of the US release renders that less important.

Aha, this is news to me. I assumed the license to explore it on disc media would also include BluRay. But then again, this cost could also be in the calculations. Having a license for a DVD, the title is extremely unlikely that another company would go and get the BD license. So they could at least have a quote, no? But then again, we are talking about making business with the Japanese. That's never easy.

I remember the argument against using Kickstarter was pretty convincing in a recent MangaUK podcast (one of the last two I think), but I don't remember the specifics. I think the main problem was that it looks bad to the japanese licensors in some way. But I do want to see MVM do some BD re-releases so I'll chuck in my list of 'double-dip worthy' series anyway.

Ergo Proxy
Lunar Legend Tsukihime
Paranoia Agent
Samurai Champloo
Anything with Shana in the title.
Welcome to the NHK

I would also like to see Kids on Slope and Space Pirates on BD aswell.

No. Shakugan no Shana and Shakugan no Shana Second can stay on DVD; the blu-rays look absolutely horrible. However, I wouldn't mind the movie, S or III -FINAL- on blu-ray, as they're more recent, but MVM haven't licensed them yet.

I don't think the Bubblegum Crisis series will come out as that belongs to Manga. I had to import it. :(

But I would like to see more stuff in Blu-Ray... and out in boxsets no volumes. I say this because I got given 2 volumes of FMAB for my birthday on Blu-ray, only for Manga to bring out full boxset (on dvd) and say they won't bring out the third Blu-Ray volume for it. This now means I would have to import not knowing if the Blu-Ray was region free or not.

It would make me happy if they bough out Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni series as well as Umineko No Naku Koro Ni. Also would be awesome if they could release the following on Blu-Ray:

Martian Successor Nadesico series and movie
Tenchi Muyo series and movies
Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero
Mirai Nikki
Magic Knights Rayearth series (Manga used to hold the licence to just the OVA, but they no longer do.)
Shadow Skill series(Same here.)
D.N Angel (Licence is in limbo after ADV went under)
Vampire Princess Miyu (I know they lost the licence when Tokyo Pop died but it would be great to own this on Blu-Ray!)
InuYasha series and movies

I will stop for now!

Manga had Bubblegum Crash once upon a time. MVM had Bubblegum Crisis, although i guess the licence is long since lapsed.

FMAB is region locked on Blu-ray. If you want Region B, import from Australia.

Satoshi Kon and Yoshitoshe ABe on Blu-ray please.

Uh, I'm pretty sure it doesn't... The original OVAs were licensed by AnimeEigo in the USA, MVM here in the UK. Tokyo 2040 (the later series, not the one I'm concerned with) was with ADV, and is now with Funimation.

A lot of MVM stuff are older titles, so to be honest, it might be worth them trying to get newer titles out on blu-ray at release, as opposed to their back catalogue.

For me it depends on the quality of the BD. I wouldn't want complete sets of some of the butchered upscales (e.g. Shana or Chobits) to be released, but I'd go for releases that were at least a good upscale job.

WRT Manga podcast - as I mentioned above, I'm bringing the idea forward to MVM, as the chain of decision is a lot smaller on that case. It could end up with nothing happening, but at least the channel for discussion is open.

It has to begin somewhere.

As maybe, I guess I shouldn't have added the option in the first place....

And hey Starcry, top choices there.

And gah.... I've removed the maybe and it reset the counter.... =P That's me, mod trolling you lot! xD
Sorry for the annoyance.

I'm not interested in most new anime

Releasing well loved classics however is a good option - though it may have be at a lower price point as some people see newer things as being 'better'.

I'd like to see on Blu Ray:

Bubblegum Crisis/Crash
Serial Experiments Lain
Sailor Moon (Licence?)
Vampire Princess Miyu (Licence again)
Ergo Proxy
Haibane Renmei
Riding Bean (I can't be the only one that enjoyed this)
Read or Die TV
