Serious Discussion: Hagane 2

All the FMA anime fans were mislead by BONES by adding DEEP and tragic pasts to the Sins when really they should have just stuck to being what they were meant to be, ruthless cold-blooded killers, they are sins for a reason not saints. Scar is a wimpy push-over who is far too forgiving and kind seeing as in the manga he won't stop at nothing to get his revenge. Plus the manga has that azn prince who finally has a purpose!

Basically this thread is for the hardcore FMA fans (which I once was) to rage on the new anime series which BONES admitted they messed up on, what other reason would there be for a remake? [Besides money]

The highlights in the eyes are wrong - and stay wrong over several frames. It looks weird, and I say this even as a fan of some very weird looking series.

Even after watching it again several times I still can't agree with you there. It looks to me more like a stylistic thing rather than them just completely messing it up. To be fair though, I still prefer the old style and maybe it was just rushed for this little teaser.
It's not a fair representative of whats to come though; being essentially just 3 images and some text with a bit of movement

Honestly, I don't want another FMA series. I was happy enough enjoying the FMA anime series... until I found that it was nothing great or spectacular. Whether that was down to the 'ruined anime storyline' or the fact that FMA has no appeal to me any longer is another matter.

But I agree with others that the animation loooks... ****. Well, not ****... but it looks like a Shounen anime quality, which is bad.

But my opinion? Leave FMA alone. If I want it's original storyline, then I rather read the manga. And since I can't be arsed with that, then I won't bother. But I had enough FMA... with it being on Anime Central twice and I watched it all on Rapture.

Yeah, I'm hoping they just concentrated on the flame effect for the teaser and Roy will get a more consistent character design in the actual show.

Cold blooded, ruthless characters are nothing if we don't understand their motives or at least get a glimpse into who they are. The Sins in the manga series were drastically less compelling as characters than they were in the anime. They are the main villains and are present in a lot of scenes in the manga, so the fact they are not even remotely compelling or memorable as characters is quite jarring. This same logic applies to the character of Scar.

As for Ling; I though he was cool, interesting and a good addition to the story but he hardly makes up for the manga's shortcomings elsewhere.

In the manga the Sins are just Fathers bitches so it doesn't really matter all that much, sure they had some cool designs, but BONES focused on them far too much and for the wrong reasons, the only one who got any real focus is Envy. Like your beloved Lust, she was the very living embodiment of a real woman in the manga while in the anime they decided to make her related to Scar which was totally none existant in the original content.

Anyway, it's time to guess who will do the opening. I'm betting on some awful band like Asian Kung-Fu Generation or UVERworld [First album was awesome, after that they're pretty bad] myself.

Cool eyes, nii-san.

I wonder how many times Edward's height while be refered to in this version?

Seriously though I really wish they would let this franchise die or at least redo it with the intention of giving it a more centralised storyline and conclusive ending.

I really don't see what the hype is about the original. There are episodes that are good, but as whole it's too long, goes off on too many tangents, doesn't have near as much character depth as it thinks it does and has no ending.

I'll hold you to this when we see what happens in the new EVA movies.
