Romance Based Anime Suggestions

If you want a mature romance I suggest you get Emma: A Victorian Romance.

As the name indicates, it's set in Victorian times, but it's still very much a decent watch if you're into romance anime. It deals with the old social classes and a few other period themes.

If Emma doesn't quite take your fancy, then I'll add another recommendation for His and Her Circumstances.

Watcootalkinbout'. DearS is one of the funniest Anime I have ever seen... I really fail to see why everyone hates it so much...

I think it's because most people have already seen it when it was called Chobits (though that was pretty derivative itself!).

I liked the DearS anime too. It wasn't very romantic by my standards but it was entertaining. Loved the teacher...

I'm watching Chobits at the moment, about half way through. I'll reserve my final judgment until i'm finished, although so far I dont belive it to be quite as funny i.e I havnt seen anything that beats the porn watching moment in DearS. :p

I've seen Chobits and enjoyed it a lot to be honest. How is DearS similar? Never seen it but reading up on it, I can't see how they'd be rated together? Well not storyline wise at least.

People think the whole "mysterious girl living with a lonely guy" automatically makes anything with that concept the same.

Chobits is superior to DearS in every conceivable way.

Why are you people even comparing them? There are very few similarities.

I agree Chobits is better.

The reason people compare them is because their stories deal with many of the same things. Also the main charcters have similar stuff happening Chobits persicom starts with no programme, DearS alien starts with no memories.

Hmm *holds out hands to weigh up*

Alien and a Humanoid Personal Computer.... I guess there are some similarities. lol

Think I'm going to have to watch DearS myself to rate it against Chobits.

Don't bother, the DearS Anime sucked. They miss out half the story and a main character.

I just started watching something you might like, it's called ToraDora. It's only 3 episodes in but so far it's goooood.

The story so far is a two main characters working together because they both love two of the other characters. They're all friends and the main 2 are often getting mistaken for a couple.

That's a reaaaaaaally basic way to put it without spoiling anything. It's funny though.

I figure they are slightly similar due to the whole girl who knows nothing joins up with guy and then learns about everything, then we have the whole 'evil' (and I use the term lightly) organisation getting at each of them at the end, or at least, thats what I assume is about to happen at the end of Chobits, I am 2 episodes off finishing:p Imo, Dears is still funnier, Chobits has the better story. Funny>Story. :D

EDIT: Ok, I stand corrected, no 'evil' organisation at the end of Chobits really:p They went for the 'Super glowy lights of doom with really quick finish-up ending' as I like to call it, lol.

I really didn't like Chobits. I couldn't stand Chii, definitley one of CLAMP's worst characters. Useless, boring, and completely bland. The whole series is terribly misogynistic, too. Totally fan pandering garbage. I've the series on DVD, and even the manga, but looking back now, I feel ashamed.

I hate Chii too. The only one I liked at all was the friend (and Sumomo), and even he was annoying sometimes.

The series on the whole was enjoyable if I totally switched off my brain but it's not something that will ever be in my top 10. Or top 100.

Video Girl Ai and Rumbling Hearts seconded. Maison Ikkoku and Urusei Yatsura, too, but they're both long-running series.

Midori Days is another one that I enjoyed. It's about a delinquent who wakes up one morning to find a tiny girl where his right hand should be. Once I'd got over the bizarreness of the premise, I found it to be a charming and funny romantic comedy. Hand-girl Midori is a drip but the male lead is, for once, not a total loser.

And I'm another one who bought the Chobits manga and anime but now wonder what the hell I was thinking.
