Is this an 80's musak thread?
I've a bunch of 80's songs on my Ipod~ mostly complete cheese, but really, the 80's was cheese, lol. Like the cheesy electro most, though, the new-wave. ♥

no, no no noono noo, no....no not ALL the music was complete cheese I have 60 albums of 80's artist, and I guess you like the new-wave, high five.

but I wouldn't put names like Devo, Peter Gabriel, Robert Palmer, Kraftwerk, Telex, Yello, Yazoo, Peter Schilling, Paul Simon, INXS, Go West, Harold Faltermeier, Giorgio Moroder as cheese

There are plenty of great songs in the middle the more cheesy stuff. Bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth had their best phase during the 80's as well, of course that when we talk about music in the 80's, we usually end up talking about the cheesy pop stuff... Duran Duran, Monaco and New Order are other pop bands I actually like very much. I listen to the cheesy stuff every now and then during nostalgia attacks.. xD

Taking into consideration only pop bands, which would be your favourite? I'd say either Monaco or Duran Duran....

That's hard does Adam And The Ants count if not probably Duran Duran, Depech Mode or Human League.

I am a Trad Goth by nature so most of my favourite bands had their beginnings or heyday in the 80's, like Sisters of Mercy, Mission, The Cure, Fields Of The Nephilim, Bauhaus and New Model Army.

Very good taste Dracos. Although I wouldn't really call myself a Goth anymore, (It's been a few years since I could do that) I still love every one of the above bands, Adam & The Ants included. Also All About Eve and Siouxsie & The Banshees.

And if we're going to get really obscure, Skeletal Family and X-Mal Deutschland.

Good to hear others appreciate good stuff. I have stacks of compilations with bands like X-Mal Deutschland and other more obscure bands that only ever released a few bits. There was a big thing a while back for re-releasing CDs with all the stuff from Specimen and other bands that had like one album and maybe a couple of EPs.

The older Adam And The Ants stuff is a lot more Punk, Malcum McLaran ended up as the manager and nicked all the original band apart from Adam for Bow Wow Wow. Another band from that time I love who have a similar sound at times are Sex Gang Children (the name was turned down by Culture Club).
