Durarara!!

Durarara!! will have a release similar to Gurren Lagann structure and price. So we should see 3 volumes release with an RRP priced roughly at £35 each. The actual purchasing I assume would be closer to £25 on-line for each volume as that how much Gurren Lagann volumes currently cost to buy. No word yet of a special editions as yet and the first volume will be in time for October EXPO.

Baccano!

Baccano! is going to be released in a 4 disc Complete Series box set with an RRP of £39.99.

4 discs for Bacanno?

I'd expect that to change. Funi released the series on four single discs in the US, but when it came to the series collection, they went to 3 discs, and threw in more extras as well.

It probably will be over 4 disc as that the number of disc that the Madman version uses. While they won't use the exact disc like MVM would but they probably would use the same dvd encoding to share costs.

Eden of the east and Bacanno I'll buy right away but Durarara sounds kinda expensive. I guess I'll have to see how much money I have at the time.

3 awesome series, I can't wait to pick these up.

I'm just wondering whether there'll be a special edition for Durarara!!, it would be awesome if there was. But I wonder what would be in it.
Hopefully Amazon etc will allow us to get some pretty good deals on these.

Too expensive, especially Durararara but ESPECIALLY Baccano! I'll wait for it to drop in price on Amazon.

Not really that expensive in the case of Baccano! as it will be heavily discounted online, it would easily have £10 off that price maybe even more.

The complete Naruto series 8 released next week has an RRP of 34.99 but you can pick it up for £22.99 of play.com a saving of £12 off RRP.

I did mention both to Beez on Twitter but it doesn't seem likely to happen. They only replied to my moan about the price.

So the actual online price for the Eden of the East Blu-ray should be somewhere around £25? Brilliant. Oh, wait, that's not the complete series? Is it expected to come in two parts?

Haven't looked at Durarara!! yet, but am watching Baccano! at the moment (imported it from the US a few months back as I didn't expect a license over here >_<), and loving it. They are both based on novels by the same person, yeah? So depending on what cash I have spare at the time of the releases, may go for it as well.

If matches Blu-Ray of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Vol 1 which has the same RRP then happily yes.

Eden of the East is only 11 episode long so it should be the whole series on 2 discs.

If Eden of the East is indeed a single two-disc release, and given the episode count I can't see what else it could be, I'm all over the BD.

Durarara is looking to be more expensive than I anticipated, but we might get some nice packaging at least.

Hey, finally some new UK anime releases I might want to buy. Sod all you poor people, you can already get them free off the internet. Stop moaning.

Actually, when and how were Durarara and Baccano made? HD or not HD, that is the question (which determines whether I buy them on DVD or not).

Durarara!! is in HD. It is a current show, still airing in Japan.

I'm not sure how Baccano! was made, but it was aired in the latter half of 2007. It doesn't appear to have been originally broadcast in HD at any rate.

I doubt there will be blu-ray for either. As japan haven't got a BD release. DRRR is HD definatly (CR has a 720p version).
The only companies re-releasing things HD in any significant way are Bandai Visual and TBS. See things like Mai-hime, all of Gundam, CLANNAD geting blu-rays. Besides that it's only been huge classic stuff geting them.

Everything will get an HD release eventually though, even stuff that will look no better than it did in SD. That's the way of the consumerist world. So for stuff that actually will look good in HD, I'm willing to wait.

NO! Japanese BD releases have only been for HD content. Unlike FUNimations , I don't think they release anything that doesn't have a 1080p or analogue source on BD. The 720p version, much as it's still HD doesn't mean there's going to be a BD.
Or if you want to wait be prepared to wait for years. CLANNAD took 2 1/2 years between DVD and BD releases.
