Project Zero (aka Fatal Frame) franchise

Hovis!

Vampire Ninja
Anyone played any of the Project Zero games?

I'm currently playing the third one, but I've restricted my plays to late nights (now & again) along with headphones.

Its a very fearful experience, believe me!

Its shaping up to be the most "frightening" game I've played in recent times.

What do other peeps think? :D

Very nice series i must say. i only got into it last month by starting on Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly. i got the 3rd at the same time but decided to wait till i got the first before i played it....so now currently on the first..and i am sure i noticed many links between the first two straight off. and i noticed the link to the third just by reading the book and basically completing the first nightmare(1st chapter). For at first i was not sure if there was a link that connected the second and third ones other than the camera itself :? . Anyways, apart from my blethering i do think it is a great series, and one which is one of the more scarier ones out there

I think the third the best in the series, and I like the way the narrative works in #3 (when you play the third game yet me know what you thought). Some people didn't like how it was broken into two "parts" (the manor in the dreams and the apartment in real life) but I think it keeps things fresher and more interesting.

I also think the way the game is currently linking the first and second games together is good too. I think the franchise is definetely got the reputation to go along side both the Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises now.

I really wanna discuss some of my favourite moments I've expereinced so far but I don't wanna risk it for people who may not have played them yet.

Though I will say the in the third game I'm beginning to find the apartment during waking hours the hardest going because, at the moment, the horror is subtle but spine chillingly effective (the feet!).

i will have it complete by the end of the night no doubt lol...i have no way of sleeping at the moment and not much else to do so i could probably let ya know my thoughts as soon as tomorrow probably

At beginning of hour VI now..the amount of links between all three games is quite cool..i mean there is many games that have links but its the way this one is set up that impresses me. The way they link all characters into the game is quite good i think..i'll let you know more once i finish it

The way you're going you're going to finish it before me. I can't remember what hour I'm on though, but I'm quite far (the game is a lot bigger than I expected). :)

Arbalest is at The hour just after you find the radio in the attic, along with that ghost.

Just finished Hour XI i think, so now on the final stretch of the game..should have it done by the night.
Hopefully Miku won't disappear like the others did because of the tattoo

heh..it doesn't take me long to get far in some games, but this one is one i want to play through several times so that i can get all the ghosts..still to complete it..shall do so tomorrow..but i need to play through it again to get all the ghosts (about 220 in all..maybe off a bit). you seen the wee creepy bits in the house? like the smudge on the wall just outside the red room and the feet under the small curtain beside the phone? there is more but i won't mention them the now. i think they are quite cool wee additions.

The feet under the curtains next to the phone is probably the most subtle peice of horror in the game and I found it the most disturbing as a result.

When I first saw it I wasn't quite sure what it was, but on closer inspection it was feet. Decided to use the camera and love and behold, the next moment they were gone.

Some times keeping it simple is the way to go.

Modern Hollywood horror film makers could learn a thing or two from the Far East.

I love the Project Zero games.

I would recommend having the Xbox versions of PZ1 & 2 as they have more extras, better lighting and more room to save your photos. Even the camera obscura differ from each version. I know as I have both, I just stick to Xbox.

As for Project Zero 3 there is no Xbox version but it's good on the PS2.

The best points from each game in my opinion:

PZ1=Atmosphere and scare factor
PZ2=Story
PZ3=Gameplay

By Project Zero 3 the scares were obvious as a little cutscene would happen before every 'big' fight. :p
I await PZ4 someday and perhaps PZ3 on the Xbox!

PZ 4 would be interesting..though from what i remember the producers of PZ said they were finishing it at PZ3. Though more recently rumours have mentioned the 4th..but i can't say..mind you there is novels and comics based on the PZ series..and in japan there was something on the mobile as well so it is quite popular..so PZ4 may come out

Tecmo (or is it Temco - I always get confused which way round it is) and the Project Zero development team should, provided the franchise continues, do what Capcom did with Resident Evil 4 (as in change the "direction" of the game but keep all the benchmark ingredients).

However, that's easier said than done, and besides. It may not happen at all.

It is Tecmo, erm and your right, it would be hard to do. If they where to change the direction of it..what would it be? since these ones have been based on shrine maidens and a set of rituals from feudal japan. Where would they take the idea from next is what i wonder. But at the moment..the only thing i wonder is that will they ever get round to finishing the Project Zero(Fatal Frame) movie they annouced 4 years back now :lol:. If your wondering..it is meant to be based on the first PZ game

Just thought i would mention that i finished PZ3 finally, and the ending was ok. good to see miku survived, shame about kei though If this is how they where planning to end the series then thats a good place to stop but if the rumours are true about the 4th game which, i think is slightly possible, then it would be interesting to see what time they set it in and who the characters are, if any from PZ3 are in it at all

I reckon they might do what Capcom did with Onimusha 4 and have references to the past outings but fundametally be a new outing with new characters.
