Nice to see a larger slate of releases again, and only one is a rerelease too.

Only Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! interests me, but I'm happy to see that one get a disc release which is unexpected with how things have been for a while now.

Probably, but there was a two year gap between the US and UK releases of season 1, so I'm not waiting this time.

While logical to assume they'd release all of a series instead of only season 1, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion anymore with AL. Sentai released The Eminence In Shadow S1 on 10/10/2023, and AL released their version 16/12/2024; Sentai released S2 on 24/09/2024, and it's still MIA from AL, now years later and not even an announcement for future release. I gave up waiting on that one.

I dislike buying US versions if it I can avoid it because of the high chance of getting scratched discs due to terrible QC at the Vantiva blu-ray pressing plant in Mexico. It's not always an issue with every disc of course, but I had to piece my set of Clannad together from three separate copies to get a complete set that would play and the discs still are not all scratch-free which concerns me they might not play on a different player than what I have now

I haven't had any trouble at getting replacements from Sentai, but it's an extra annoyance to have to deal with. The problem has been going on for years so I don't think it's ever going to get fixed. It's obviously out of Sentai's control and it affects every US publisher unless they have discs made in Austria or Poland or whatever other disc facilities are left. I believe Paramount does that with their US discs, as do the UK labels that also sell discs in the US (Eureka, 88 Films, Arrow, Radiance) but in general US discs come from the Mexico facility.

The discs I have the most trouble with, and that have the deepest scratches I've ever seen, are US Criterion discs, which for a while seemed to be at least 50% of those I got were badly scratched. I don't know why it's worse with them other than their somewhat unique packaging makes me wonder if the discs are packaged somewhere else compared to most and that's where it's happening. Considering the premium prices Criterion charges, it's especially irritating and they really should use one of the other plants even if it costs them more to do so since they're selling a supposedly premium product--given their often poor encoding quality I don't consider them premium, personally.
