Otaku Question

@Sparrowsabre7

yeah but vampire knights is funny, dramatic and beautiful animation

@Paradox295 i used to watch buffy and she was awesome. but today you have supernatural, vampire daisies, teen wolf, ect its all for the girls all you get is a bunch of good looking guys running around saying im i love with her or two brothers saying were here to kill demons all these shows are recommended for girls. these sort of shows are eye candy for the female audience
my two sister and mom and nan loves watching them while the boys in our family hates watching them
at least buffy had the moves and she was bad ass.

its not that i dont like vampire and wearwolf and demons stuff i like horror movies with them in draculas and such is awesome.

altho i do like watching mongrels, documentaries, only fools, red dwarf, falty towers, some south park but not all the time, bottom, anything that i like.

i love hellsing ultimate and iv seen a few vampire animes iv got true blood in my backlogs and moon phase.

i just cant stand watching soaps, reality tv, sitcoms anymore i just cant watch them

As this thread already shows, labels like this are sort of useless when everyone defines them in radically different ways.
It doesn't help when even people in this thread are giving themselves labels. Some people are just so desperate to belong to a clique instead of being a person.
Most people feel the need to belong somewhere though, especially if their interests aren't mainstream. It's a rather isolated existence if you don't find somewhere to belong. I get the feeling the world would be a lot duller if people didn't band together to share their enthusiasms, because that's where a lot of creativity comes from. In order to do that they generally need to create a label as a sense of identity. "ayase, human" might be an accurate statement (and I stress, *might* be), but it isn't very descriptive of who I am. Defining yourself with labels might alienate you from some people, but it also serves to attract the attention of others who share your interests. Sorry if that was slightly off topic, but it's something I vividly remember discussing a long time ago about another label I used to give myself...

If you like Mongrels you may be interested in this AMV (I don't know how to embed clips on the forum, so sorry about that).

Thread lost some of its legitimacy when Rui tried to pretend that some female anime fans aren't fujoshi.

But, er, yeah, otaku means different things to different people these days. Language is too fluid for one definition to stick to a word like that. I still don't recommend you go to Japan and introduce yourself as being (an) otaku though. In fact, don't even introduce yourself to me like that, because I will assume that you are not actually otaku, but extremely weeaboo as Maxon said.

I understand the need to share the love for something but surely if you have an enthusiasm for something you would look for those that share it? I don't go looking for gamers just because they are gamers. I look for people that like the games I like or like similar games. I find labels far too broad (and maybe even egotistical if a person is giving one to theirself), and like has already been mentioned, their definitions are never concrete.

They aren't, some are just shotacon.
Female otaku still consider fujoshi to be an insult and vice versa.

Conversely are fudanshi still otaku?
