Nostalgic Fun!

Crystal Maze was great, but only the Richard O'Brien era.

Gamesmaster was okay, I prefered Bad Influence... how hot was Violet Berlin back in the day?

Yep.

Inch High was quality television I tell ye.

Also, Gamezville or whatever was hilarious. Proper gangstas playing Street Fighter and Fifa. HI-YO. And about twenty people on computers all dedicated for looking for online games.

Who derailed this childhood memories thread with a debate about the technicalities of whether something is anime or not?

The real answer is: "who the hell cares?"
I do, actually, as much as I don't want to have another argument over nothing. ^^;

If English people start using the Japanese definition of the word commonly romanized as "anime", there's no point using it at all, since we have English words that are 100% appropriate ("cartoon", "animation", etc).

There is now, and has been for a while, the *English* word "anime", which has come to mean, within reason, "animation produced in Japan, for the Japanese market", as far as I understand it. The furthest this would extend is to animation produced in Japan for the overseas part of the "anime" market.

I'm sure someone is now going to find a post I made in skikes' thread the other day that makes it look like I'm contradicting myself, but I can only be bothered to explain that if anyone is bored enough to drag it up.

Ryo-Chan just reminded me off this advert

I never quite understood the Crystal Maze.
At the end of each episode, the jumper-wearing contestants would be rewarded with the chance to grab pieces of paper being blown by a turbine. Not worth all the toil, I say.

Dig and Dug were great.

I was also very fond of these two guys. Both their black and white and coloured adventures.

They were pretty much an obsession for a while. Same goes for subtitled Godzilla movies. Like, the real deal ones. None of that cartoon and Americanized crap.

I still have an obessesion with them, I've got quite a few on VHS still, I would of collected the region 1 releases if I was certain they would play on my dvd player. I want to see Final Wars.
