News of the World is closing down

Yeah, so the News of the World - Britain's biggest selling newspaper - has decided to cease publication in response to the recent controversies over phone hacking and so forth.

That's a mighty sign of remorse for a business that actually has no need to shut down whatsoever. Of course, there are rumours The Sun will simply go seven days a week instead, so most likely nothing much will change for the old Murdochs.

So farewell then, News of the Screws, you peddled your filth and pushed your luck, you couldn't resist salacious muck. You pulled a 'Trigger' and he backfired. As suicides go, this one's inspired. Heads should roll within the Met. You reap what you sow, and deserve what you get.

not "Sky News -on TV, online, on your app store, and now on your fish and chips?"

Can gentlemen not opt to return to the trends of the Empire's glorious years? Will a learned fellow no longer be contented by The London Gazette?

This is New to the World. Though I do wonder, if it wasn't the fact the NOTW employees were accused of hacking phones from the military, would this still be the result if it was just the murder victim's families and such being targeted? One thing to mess with the public/individuals, but when it comes to top secret info...
(Not a straight-out accusation, but just a thought that cropped up...)

But they got what they deserved, either for being sneaky or ignorant. Those employees that were not involved what-so-ever though, I gotta feel some penance for.

This is terrible news, now I'll have to find a substitute for hamster bedding.

Maybe Murdoc's planning to save on some pennies to buy more shares in sky

u could downgrade to using the sun

Well good it was a rubbish paper at the readership will most likely move to other papers such as the Sun. For hamster bedding have you concidered the Star or the Gruinad.

It's good that Murdoch has been given this blow but i it dosen't mean i want other media groups having a monopoly on the media either. (insert well known telly corp)

Yeah, i read this up this morning, and got a ear in on the news whilst i was over in the states. Probably the best news i heard all day(and you beat me to the punch Vivis........)

They brought it on themselves, just a shame their main boss didn't get the sack(i believe that was the case anywho). I was under the impression though that the Sun was affiliated with the NotW? I dunno why, but i got this hope up that the Sun would die a horrible death as well, but now we may get The Sun, Sunday Ed instead? Guess it's same crap, different name.

i got the last issue of the news of the world for a keepsake and a few hours later i hear that people are selling issue on the internet for £30 i think il hang on to my issue
