A decent week. I already have the first two accounted for and my preorder of Ouran shipped yesterday :)

I already have all of the FMA DVDs, but those box sets are still really tempting :/ I'd like to watch Ouran Host Club eventually, too, but I think I'll wait for the boxset. Naruto is a series I enjoyed an awful lot, but it's prohibitively expensive to collect due to it's length.

I'll be getting the second FMA set at some point. I had planned to pre-order but it seems pointless when I still haven't watched the first one. It'd be just adding more DVDs to the backlog.

Received Ouran yesterday.

Sneakly hacked my way to the top of the thread as I reported this on the home page and as some titles were missing.

Dave - I really appreciate the help getting trailers and covers. You have a pm, hope you like it. =)

Wasnt School Rumble and Suzuka pushed back to June? Vol 4 of School Rumble and vol 5 of Suzuka havent been released yet
:S ouch, got those directly form the distributor, but when the distributor went bust and I didn't get any update, I completely overlook this.

My apologies.

Already own all the Fullmetal Alchemist volumes.

Interested in Ouran (as i've seen the series). My only cocern (sadly) is the extremely effeminate packaging and what my parents might think...

Well to be fair, Ouran does look (to me, someone who's not watched it) like it's aimed at the female market. I doubt I'll bother with it as I disliked the concept to begin with, and now that guy hugging the rabbit in the OP has put me off it big time.

Have all the rest of the FMA boxes pre-ordered though.

They'll be impressed at how comfortable with your masculinity you are :)

It is rather girly but I think the anime was going for some of the Fruits Basket crowd as well, and I know it has a lot of male fans. Weirdly I skipped the manga entirely despite the good reviews because I generally can't stand that kind of series but after seeing some clips of the anime I couldn't resist.

That it's extremely cheap already helped.

Ouran is a shoujo anime so that may put off many. But while it deals with many shoujo themes it is at the same time also satirizing the same points. Ouran is a shoujo anime that essentially is also taking the p*** out of shoujo anime.
So i believe that anyone who knows a little about some of the common cliches in shoujo will find something to laugh at...though to be honest i could be biased!

Revelation hasn't gone bust. They just released the Fullmetal Alchemist boxset after all.

They're just achingly slow. At the moment they are releasing one new volume every three months. Not one of each series, one in total.

February - Tsubasa V6
May - Mushi-shi V6
August - Peach Girl V6

The rest are collections. January and this month, FMA, so I guess July and October are sorted for them as well.

They've also released Tubasa and Spiral boxsets. The Mushi-shi and Peach Girl boxsets will be released with their final volumes, and they have Moon Phase boxset coming up as well.

They haven't announced anything past August though. No sign of Beck, Suzuka, School Rumble or Hell Girl's remaining volumes as yet, but by the existing schedule, they have room for just one more new single volume release in November.

Sorry for the confusion caused by my previous post. Revelation outsourced distributions to Pinnacle and Pinnacle went down.

I don't know if they are handling distribution themselves or using another company.

I think Revelation are having problems beyond just distribution. They are currently releasing the Film Noir Collection, which are basically films that are in the public domain, stuck on a disc, with an unreasonable price tag on.

I say unreasonable, as a tenner is too much for a film that you'd normally find for two quid in a post office or a supermarket bargain bin.

I mentioned the distribution issues as that is a fact that already happened.

As for this other thing you mentioned, I won't speculate. Zavvi was going down and got ressucitate, ADV is still around a year after all their troubles (albeit not releasing anything new). So you never know what the future will be.

I'm certainly not saying that Revelation are going anywhere. I do think that they are living within their means though, only releasing titles when they can afford to release them.

I think they got caught out by the pace of anime at first, the bimonthly releases and the loaded schedule was extravagant. At one point in '07 they were releasing four discs a month, which I think was beyond their means. At that point they were releasing more anime than the rest of their output, and they are a boutique label with their toes in many swimming pools, not just anime. They quickly went to the two-discs a month schedule last year, and then in summer went on hiatus altogether for four months.

Also, they are essentially dictated to by sister company Funimation, and the fact that Funimation have ended exclusivity, and started licencing titles to Manga Entertainment must be an indication that Revelation just aren't set up to handle Funimation's output, especially as Funimation is the biggest anime distro in the US now.

Revelation did say last year that they will be completing most of the anime series they are releasing, they made mention of a Beck boxset specifically, and I have no doubt that they will. It's just at the pace they are going, it will be 2011/12 before they are through, and with serial shows like Suzuka and Beck, that's intolerable.

Also that 'most' was significant. It implies that some series won't be completed. Maybe they'll do a Manga and go straight to boxset, but I have my concerns over School Rumble and Hell Girl, both of which are only halfway through, concerns that will only be allayed by a release date.
