UK Anime Distributor MVM Entertainment Discussion Thread

Given that this series is apparently available to stream via HiDive and buy through Amazon, what is the point of the BBFC in this instance? To protect the few hundred people who'd have bought the series on disc? Oh wait, an easily obtainable disc in English already exists 🄓

Was wondering about this as it had been a while since there was an update but Immoral Guild, according from MVM directly, has been cancelled, presumably due to extensive enough cuts being required by the BBFC.

Not seen it personally but I always wonder about how the BBFC work with regards to ecchi series? Seems like most of the time there released uncut fine but then you'll get something like this. Again I appreciate it might get a better understanding if I actually watched the series in question.

The female character's are not consenting to the attacks and as you can imagine from the voice acting, getting pleasure from it. That could be part of it.
Lots of boobs, although that's not always an issue.

I always hark back to Triage X which got an 18.
In the final episode or OVA, the female cast are topless in a hot spring. In the pop up info re each character one is clearly stated to be 14.

Well it just occurred to me rather than speculating maybe we should kindly ask @MVM if they are aloud/can talk about what the problem was specifically with regards to cut's needed for this title?
It basically would have cost far more to get all the cuts made, which would have then made some scenes/story look out of place to make you think "am I missing something etc", then to get the discs remastered, re-approved and resubmitted. It would have been a very costly headache to sort out so was just easier to cancel altogether.

Are you able to go into detail about what shots the BBFC (assuming this is to do with them) objected too. Also with regard to ecchi's I always get the impression that many are passed by the BBFC uncut but given you would know more than me is that normally the case or do the BBFC make objections to the point we have the same situation here of a title just not being released and we the regular public just never hear about it?

Would be too long to go into details, plus this was a year ago so...But pretty much every episode would have involved lengthy cuts, entire scenes removed etc.

Modern ecchi anime would give the BBFC a headache (and that's even with them softened up over the years).........imagine if MVM attempted to release Redo Of Healer. They'd cut like half the show

Not that it matters to me anyway. I imported Immoral Guild, Redo Of Healer and another show that would probably run afowl of the BBFC Gushing Over Magical Girls all last year not even entertaining the idea they would ever get UK releases anyway

Attempted to visualise this exact scenario, at thy urging... would not not end well, fyi. Don't attempt this, @MVM!
'Tis good you are... cultured enough to own that selection of shows, long before the BBCF got involved. Your perspective from up high serves you well. As it would happen (mainly through association to 'F'), I own Gushing/Redo too! One could even go as far as to describe us as comrades~

...That said, Redo is a rape hentai (complete with ahegaolol) disguised as a TV anime. And whilst I am open-minded enough to accept that -
rape, that is - there would not be a show left to cut as it'd be reduced to a bog-standard isekai reborn harem show; minus the mind-break rapey schit. And likely t'would be better, albeit shorter series as a result. Hmm, perhaps MVM should license it, after all: 10m episodes. Maybe consider it after all, @MVM!

Butt I digress: 'tis a shame about Immoral Guild. Usually rate ecchi/smutty series 4-6/10 on a non-suicidal day as they're oft low budget and/or painfully unfuni. Immoral though had some sharp reaction humour, given the lead was something akin to Kazuma in Suba with situations & baka girls surrounding him forced upon 'im (often left to watch on, half in terror, as the furry girl has a blob-thing do... whatever a blob-thing does to girls in anime).

Not very funny and a bit boring.
Even I couldn't squeeze much enjoyment out of it.

Thus, I must strongly disagree with Oto-chan's assertion that it is not funny/is boring. Blasphemy: 'tis one of the better shows of its ilk. In fact, I'd give it a... erm, 7? Although I don't watch such shows for the perversion as much as for the comedy, so maybe that's where we are destined to forever disagree. That or else you did not squeeze hard enough and/or your grip failed you.

I feel quite bad that you're disappointed in me, Aion.😭
I've found over the last few years ecchi shows just aren't amusing me.
I dropped Konosuba after S1 and I own S2.
Kandagawa Jet Girls and Keijo for fanservice. Maken Ki for comedy.
Top of the tree is
Interspecies Reviewers 🄳 and recently Deviant Housewives Apartment Complex. I couldn't believe what I was seeing with the latter.

I've never liked echi shows too much. I would never search out the genre although there are a few ecchi shows I like such as kill la kill I find the newer the ecchi (post-2000) the more extreme and distasteful it is.

I'm not a prude, I swear, I just find the borderline hentai a bit pointless, boring and just often times weird.
