UK Anime Distributor MVM Entertainment Discussion Thread

The Executioner and Her Way of Life is leagues ahead of most isekai shows. It's frustrating that it's also one of the few not to have received a second season, perhaps due to it languishing in obscurity on Hidive.
I remember liking it, although only a 7/10 apparently, so I wouldn't say no to a second season (also applies to MagRev), but I doubt, even now, that Japanese production committees give a damn how a show does elsewhere. Only shows with western backing like Netflix stuff would get a second season if it performs badly in Japan, but well elsewhere.
Having a look at sales volume 1 of the anime sold only 288 copies! Only show that sold less and got a second season was Aharen-san which sold 247 copies of it's best performing volume. To give a ray of hope that got it's second season last year 2 years after the manga finished! The Executioner and Her Way of Life LN finished last year, soooo maybe season 2 next year!? Although Aharen-san is Jump+ so has that Shueisha money behind it!

Where did you find the sales figures? I'm surprised that any companies would be so transparent or that such exact figures would be available.

Rather than the anime alone, it also depends on if it did well for merch and manga / LN sales. The other thing to consider is that the team working it were those who usually work on DanMachi (you could tell from how it was animated, the colours and style of animation as well as the staff credits) and obviously that is a huge ongoing project so there’s going to be less time for going back to something like Executioner. I believe the original light novels are finished, so there’s nothing to ‘promote’ there in that sense now.

A shame since I really enjoyed it and would have liked to see more anime for it (tho not at the expense of DanMachi, admittedly…)
