Muv-Luv Visual Novel Kickstarter Ends With $1,255,444 of $250,000!!

Re: Muv-Luv Visual Novel Kickstarter ends in 3 days! $900k Goal nearly reached!

There's a couple days left for the kickstarter.

$863,076 have been donated with 5,215 backers.

That's $36,924 more needed to reach the $900k goal which allows every owner who chooses the $150 tier or higher to have a free limited edition Sumika figure.

The Photon side stories have been added to Steam Greenlight.

For more info on the kickstarter, see here.

The power of the Muv-Luv fanbase.

The fifth stretch goal has been achieved. That's right this visual novel kickstarter has managed to reach $900,000 with 69 hours left until it's over.

Pretty amazing how Clannad and Grisaia only reach around $541,161 (5819 backers) and $475,255 (4,348 backers) which is nearly half of what this current Kickstarter has at the moment. At the time of this post it's currently at $901,059 with 5389 backers.

I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to try and reach 1 million before it ends.

Does you PC not have to be 10 years old running a 6 year old version of linux....? XD
Maybe I should be spending money on a new PC instead of on anime...

One of those dollars is mine.

Was thinking about backing near the end but £40 for both the games is probably a fair price but I didn't have enough at the time...

The Kickstarter has Ended!

The original goal was $250,000 but now it has concluded with a whooping $1,255,444 from 7890 backers!

All goals were achieved including Vita releases, Sumika figma and even improvements/additional content to the Muv Luv games.

The creators had this to say:
This project was first a small, important dream, and because of you, it became a huge success!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

We were originally going to share this with you after the Kickstarter ended but since we reached the final stretch goal so quickly and many of you have been asking for an update we've decided to post this now :)

The Adventure...
The past 40 days have been pretty amazing. We wanted to quickly sum up the campaign so far for all of our backers (both new and old).

September 25
We launched the Kickstarter and in less than 7 hours we'd met our starting goal of $250,000!! Our expectations were blown out of the water and a lot of our limited tiers were gone right away! We barely had time to start putting together a FAQ and answer the messages that were coming in. We immediately requested more robot supplies from our friends at Kotobukiya!

September 26
The next day, we reached the first stretch goal, Muv-Luv Improvements ($400,000)! Despite adding more robots, they were soon sold out again. The FAQ and Add-Ons were setup on this day. After a few days, we managed to make the Takemikazuchi unlimited, and fuelled by our backers, the TSF robot army started taking shape.

Things went a little slow afterwards.

October 2
Finally we reached the Android/Vita stretch goal ($500,000). At the request of fans, we also decided to go DRM Free for the Physical PC Release. We also managed to secure 3 more heroines for the pillowcase designs.

October 12

We decided to create physical copies of the Vita! It was a risky move but we managed to find a good contact at Sony as well as a publishing partner to help make sure the Vita release is as high quality as possible. The reception has been great, and over 1000 Physical Vita units have been pledged for already :O

October 13

Thanks to the physical Vita pledges, we reached the third stretch goal quickly. The digital Muv-Luv CODEX. This was one of the stretch goals we were most excited for as it allows us create something entirely new for you. It all started slowing down afterwards because we are near the final stretch goal and there's nothing more to be done... Right? ;)

October 22

The most memorable update of the campaign, "The Day It All Began" was announced. A whole lot of new things were announced, including the final stretch goal, Operation Cherry Blossom! It also contained an announcement about changing some of the limited reward tiers by October 30.

October 25
A day after the October 22 update, we reached the Photons stretch goal ($720,000). It was the weekend and we were a little caught off guard so we didn't get an update out until Sunday night (the 25th).

We did two updates for the rewards:

And the October 30th update which boosted our pledge from $820,000 to $860,000 immediately, and kept on steadily rising...!

October 31
After October 30th's reward adjustments, we hit the final stretch goal ($900,000)! The update was delayed slightly as we didn't really expect to reach it so quickly! This update contains information on the CODEX tier and add-on as well as the inclusion of a Sumika figma in every collector's box...

And here we are... We've surpassed one million!

We're speechless... Everyone on the team has been humbled by this and we can't express how much we appreciate all of the support and encouragement we've gotten from you guys. We wouldn't be here (or anywhere close to here) without all of you. Thank you very much!!! m(_ _)m

Thunderclap And Share The Luv!

We're going out with a boom (in the form of a Thunder Clap). You can sign up here to help spread the word.

This is our last chance to shout the project out all together and potentially get more support! :)

The Share The Luv Giveaway is also still going strong. This is your chance to win a trip to Japan and meet the Muv-Luv team. You can find out more and enter here.

This is Just The Beginning

The Kickstarter may be drawing to a close but we are just getting started. Translation work has already begun as has production on many of the physical backer rewards. We're also working out a plan for the extra money that's been raised and will be updating everyone shortly.

Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts.

The Muv-Luv Team

I think one of the reasons why Muv Luv was such a success is because it's not a Sekai Project distribution. Any people have criticised Sekai Project for doing too many things at once and releasing questionable translations. In addition they pissed off the entire Grisaia fanbase from how they handled the Kickstarter for that franchise. Another reason is because it's the original creators handling the international work. It's worth noting that Sekai Project aren't handling Key titles anymore (as presumably evidently seen with Little Busters! and Tomoyo After).

I donated $1 so I could upgrade my pledge later on. Still not sure about this Muv-Luv thing.
