Following on from the successful release of the first two parts in their Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin series, the renowned animation studio Sunrise revealed last month that the anticipated third part in their adaptation of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's manga has been scheduled for a Spring 2016 release. Yesterday, the official website for the iconic mecha franchise updated with the first trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Part III Dawn Of Rebellion, which is streaming in both English dubbed and Japanese-subtitled formats:

Japanese Subtitled:

English Dubbed:

The previous two episodes in the series, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin I Blue-Eyed Casval and its follow-up Artesia's Sorrow received limited theatrical screenings in Japan upon their respective releases in February and October this year and were also featured in the line-up of the MCM Loves Anime event in London, marking the first time Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin II Artesia's Sorrow had been shown outside of Japan.

The two currently released episodes are available for premium streaming on Daisuki.net, as well as home video through Bandai Visual's Japanese Collector's Edition release, which is being sold in the United Kingdom through Anime Limited. Vertical Publishing are currently releasing Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's original manga in English.

Looks really good, and although I love the UC timeline of Gundam, I just can't justify the price for one OVA. I did the same with Unicorn, that's why I have the downgraded DVD collections of them, sadly...

I really hope Sunrise lets Anime Limited release a domestic complete collection once all four parts have been released. I personally really disliked the first part but thought the second was incredible; although I'd say neither are worth the asking price for their individual releases.

I'm pretty sure there will be a more normal release for the west in a few years. My copy of the second special set arrived today and it's so gorgeous as an infrequent splurge that it took my breath away. I'm looking forward to actually watching it later so I can start participating in the hype for the next part.

The love I felt from the creators as I peeled away every layer of the package (beautiful lid, gorgeous mini art book, stunning print, hefty booklet...) made my inner Gundam nerd really excited. Thanks AL for doing this experimental import, I wouldn't have bothered with the store-exclusive version if you hadn't twisted my arm :)

Actually its that not much cheaper though you an only get part 2 from JP so unless AL rerelease part 2 i will have to get that from JP while Part 1 ill get from them hopefully its in stock till after christmas

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between the Anime Ltd import and just importing it direct from Japan? Is it just cheaper?

The AL version is the Japanese store-exclusive set rather than the normal one, so you have to order from BVC (or buy at a cinema - not really an option). This adds inevitable costs such as import fees, double postage, Japanese sales tax and any markups you incur buying through a middleman, making AL's work out cheaper. As well as being easier, even speaking as someone who regularly buys complicated things from Japan this way.

The regular version of Origin can definitely be purchased more cheaply from Japan if you shop around, but this version is special :)

No idea why they found more stock for the first volume - perhaps there was demand from people who missed the preorder and they thought they could sell a few more? But it's a limited edition in Japan too and once it's sold out for good, it will be gone.

I see, thanks for the explanation. It's really cool for AL to do that, although I'm not sure how worthwhile it is for them. I have no idea how often this occurs in Japan (Store exclusive editions of shows/movies) but I'd like to see more imports like this.

Looks so good and can't wait for AL to get it up for Pre-order. I can see now where it will stop, looks like its going up to where MSG starts. So you can watch The Origin and then go straight into Mobile Suit Gundam to get that full experience.

I will definitely be doing that once all 4 parts are released.

I watched part 1 then 0079 its not that bad the HD remaster is good and i ignore ANN comments that its a poor blu ray remaster if you want one of those look at DBZ seasons

Re: part 1 stock
I think the reason Part 1 is still available on AL's site even though it was supposed to be pre-order only is simply that they later on partnered with Rightstuf and are now selling directly from their stock, hence the higher than pre-order price (JP->US->UK). It came up in one of AL's Newswire.
