Mai-Hime Discussion

I'm gay, therefore unexcited by a grossly exaggerated version of the female form; is there any appeal to Mai-Hime for me?

I'm also gay but My-HiME is my favourite anime series. The start is a bit fanservicey, but moving into the second act, it becomes really engrossing and has great twists and turns. Like most series, you'd just have to give it a chance to see if you like it.

Does this series have a boxset* released or not? I'm more open to shows like this these days instead of being anti-moé/loli/whatever. So I'm willing to give it a try.

* = R2/UK release, of course.

Hey guys, enlighten me. How many series are there? books, games and other related media? I've heard of Otome and I read the My-Hime manga, but that is as far as I go. I have no idea what Otome is like though.

There's Mai-Otome, Mai-Otome Zwei (an OVA series), and Mai-Otome 0~S.ifr~ (a prequel OVA series), as well as various related novels collecting stories that ran in Megami or whatever (there may be some bespoke novels, too, I'm not sure) for both Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome, and a manga series for Mai-Otome as well as the one (more than one?) for Mai-HiME. Plus a couple of vidja games that are set in another Mai-HiME AU (at least the PS2 one is).

Otome is great fun once it gets going. I don't like it quite as much as the original series, but it's very enjoyable in its own right as well as having amusing touches if you've seen and enjoyed Mai-HiME first.

incidently, if anyone cares Sora Kake Girl is being considered a spiritual sequal to mai otome, not that i've checked it out though, another for my to do list

I really wasn't intrigued in any way by the trailer or comments that I read about that. If someone can tell me otherwise though, I'd be all ears.

This is one series i wouldn't mind watching, i remember HMV having advertising banners for this, WAaayyy before the Naruto craze hit the shelves.
